Selectmen Mull Traffic Situation at Town's Center

The Route 140, Route 123 intersection was a hot topic last week.

Bumper-to-bumper gridlock on Routes 123 and 140 near the center of Norton became a hot topic Thursday night at Norton Town Hall.

Selectman Robert Salvo said he wants to reach out to state highway officials about improving traffic in the center of town.

"I know there's something that can be done," he said.

Salvo said the traffic light situation could be improved to reconfigure timing at the intersection of Route 140 and Route 123. He said he hopes it could improve traffic flow, which is often backed up during morning and afternoon commutes.

Selectmen chair Robert Kimball said the town should look into widening the road on Route 123 at the location of the Wheaton College President's House. Another lane, he said, could alleviate traffic.

What do you think? What Could Be Done to Alleviate Traffic in the center of town?
