Bay Road Man Arrested For Firing Air Rifle at Neighbor's House

One man was arrested Monday night after he allegedly shot an air rifle through a neighbor's window.

A Norton man was arrested Monday night after he allegedly fired an air rifle at his neighbor's house.

Norton Police Liutenant Todd Jackson said Scott Shively, 39, of Bay Road was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, Malicious Destruction of Property and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.

According to Jackson, police responded after a Bay Road resident said a gun was fired from outside his home at the rear of his house. The resident reported a second round being fired after glass was broken.

"The resident reported that he observed a male in the backyard who ran into a neighbor's yard after the house was struck," Jackson said.

Norton Police responded and located Shively, who was "separated" from his rifle before being placed into custody.

"The rifle appeared to be similar to a high powered hunting rifle, however, after Shively was in custody, was determined to be an air rifle," Jackson said.

Jackson said multiple 911 calls were placed to Norton PD, but Shively was identified as the only suspect. He said police were not able to determine a motive. The suspect was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital for minor injuries sustained and was held on $1,000 bail.
