Swimming And Diving To Host Wheaton Invitational This Weekend

Lyons will welcome three teams to Balfour Natatorium.

The Wheaton College men's and women's swimming & diving teams are set to host the Wheaton Invitational on Friday, February 1 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, February 2 at 11 a.m. inside the Balfour Natatorium. The Lyons will welcome Tufts University, Clark University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to the pool this weekend. WHEATON (M/W): On the men's side, sophomore Ben Oliveri(Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) is coming off of a school record performance in the Lyons last dual meet against Tufts University on January 26 in Medford, Mass. Oliveri recorded 280.65 points in the one-meter dive (six dives) competition, good enough for second overall, to break Charlie Maier's (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) mark of 262.73 …

Lyons Thrive At Wheaton Invitational

Wheaton claims seven 1st place finishes at home.

The Wheaton College women's track & field team hosted the Wheaton Invitational at the Beard Field House and flourished in its only home meet of the season earning several top-3 finishes on Saturday afternoon. The Lyons hosted Assumption College, Bridgewater State University, Lasell, Ramapo College, Salve Regina, UMass Boston and Worcester State University in the non-scoring meet.  Junior All-American Ashante Little (Seabrook, N.H./Winnacunnet)won two individual events on the afternoon and also helped the 4x200-meter relay team to a second place finish overall. Men's Tennis Falls Short in NEWMAC, Women Take Wheaton Invitational

Lady Lyons return to the court April 10, men April 7.

The Wheaton College men's tennis team suffered a 5-4 loss to New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Springfield College Wednesday afternoon at Clark Tennis Courts. The win moves the Pride to 5-8 (1-1 NEWMAC) while the Lyons fall to .500 at 3-3 (0-2 NEWMAC). Senior Neall Oliver (Portland, Maine/Deering) improved to 5-1 with a 6-2, 6-3 win over freshman Kyle  Mersereau (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) at No. 1 singles. Sophomore Dan Sharon (Santa Monica, Calif./Brentwood School) was victorious at No. 4 singles as he defeated senior Zach O'Leary (Westboro, Mass./Westboro) in straight sets at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
