The PGA TOUR and Deutsche Bank today announced that the global banking firm has extended its sponsorship of the Deutsche Bank Championship by four years, through 2016. The announcement comes as the tournament, the second of four FedExCup Playoff events, celebrates its 10th anniversary this week. Deutsche Bank has been title sponsor since the tournament’s Labor Day Weekend debut at TPC Boston in 2003. The Deutsche Bank Championship is in town this week, kicking things off with the Red Sox Legends & Friends Pro-Am at 9:10 a.m. at Tournament Players Club Boston. Though a higher volume of traffic will be travelling in and out of Norton, police say it shouldn’t be an issue. “There really shouldn’t be many traffic delays during the tournament,” said Norton Police Lieutenant Todd Jackson. “The traffic is steady and usually spread throughout the day. Spectators seem to arrive throughout the day and not all at one specific time, as is for a concert or other event.” Parking for the event will be held at the Comcast Center. Officials from the Deutsche Bank Championship, TPC Boston and the PGA TOUR announced today that the impact of Hurricane Irene on the golf course was minimal, and all events during Championship Week are expected to go on as scheduled. The Deutsche Bank Championship will be played Friday, Sept. 2 through Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day), with the Red Sox Legends & Friends Pro-Am scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 30 and the official Championship pro-am scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 1.
