Deutsche Bank announces another 4-year commitment as tournament celebrates 10th anniversary.

The PGA TOUR and Deutsche Bank today announced that the global banking firm has extended its sponsorship of the Deutsche Bank Championship by four years, through 2016. The announcement comes as the tournament, the second of four FedExCup Playoff events, celebrates its 10th anniversary this week. Deutsche Bank has been title sponsor since the tournament’s Labor Day Weekend debut at TPC Boston in 2003. Norton Police Ready for Deutsche Bank Championship

The Deutsche Bank Championship is in town this week, kicking things off with the Red Sox Legends & Friends Pro-Am at 9:10 a.m. at Tournament Players Club Boston. Though a higher volume of traffic will be travelling in and out of Norton, police say it shouldn’t be an issue.  “There really shouldn’t be many traffic delays during the tournament,” said Norton Police Lieutenant Todd Jackson. “The traffic is steady and usually spread throughout the day. Spectators seem to arrive throughout the day and not all at one specific time, as is for a concert or other event.”  Parking for the event will be held at the Comcast Center. Deutsche Bank Championship Weathers Hurricane Irene With Minimal Impact

All events will go on as scheduled, starting with Tuesday’s Red Sox Legends and & Friends Pro-Am.

Officials from the Deutsche Bank Championship, TPC Boston and the PGA TOUR announced today that the impact of Hurricane Irene on the golf course was minimal, and all events during Championship Week are expected to go on as scheduled.  The Deutsche Bank Championship will be played Friday, Sept. 2 through Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day), with the Red Sox Legends & Friends Pro-Am scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 30 and the official Championship pro-am scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 1.  Damage to TPC Boston and temporary structures in place for the Championship was limited to a number of fallen trees and downed power lines. Deutsche Bank Championship Making Preparations For Implications Of Hurricane Irene

Competition rounds, scheduled for Friday, Sept. 2-Monday, Sept. 5, are not expected to be adversely affected by weather.

Officials from the Deutsche Bank Championship, Tournament Players Club Boston and the PGA TOUR are making preparations for the arrival of Hurricane Irene, and do not expect the Championship’s competition rounds or other scheduled events that are open to the public to be affected.  The Deutsche Bank Championship is contested Friday, Sept. 2 through Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day) at TPC Boston in Norton. Championship Week also includes pro-am competitions on Tuesday, Aug. 30 and Thursday, Sept. 1.  The Championship’s operations staff has made advance preparations to address severe weather.
