Rollover on Reservoir Street Injures One

Operator Christian Lewis did not sustain injuries while passenger Jessica Lake transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

On Thursday night, 19-year-old Norton resident Jessica Lake was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Norton Fire Department for injuries she sustained in a rollover car accident. The driver, Christian Lewis, 24, who lives at the same address as Lake, was not injured. He was charged by Norton Police Department with negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Norton police and fire responded to the area of 417 Reservoir St. in the area of at about 7:30 p.m. for several reports of a motor vehicle crash. The single vehicle involved in the crash had traveled off the right shoulder of the road and struck a tree stump, which caused the vehicle to roll over and rest on its roof.   That area of Reservoir Street was closed for a half hour while crews…

What's Going on Near the Reservoir Street Dam?

Embankment repairs being done.

Patch readers Catherine Webber and Linda Davis recently asked what kind of work is being done to the Reservoir Street dam. “Fall Town Meeting members approved the capital improvement budget to include the embankment repairs at the location,” answered conservation agent Jennifer Corlino. Per the Office of Dam Safety regulations, all woody vegetation along the embankment will be removed and re-vegetated with loam and seed. T Ford Company is installing footings, a training wall and a drain at the toe of the slope on one side of the dam and stabilizing the embankment on the other side with stone.
