Plans are underway for the upcoming 10th annual It Takes A Community-Kathy Bailey Memorial Basketball Game which is Friday, March 9 at 7 p.m. at Norton High School. This years game is dedicated to Norton teachers, Mr. Leddy and Mrs. Pompei who passed away this year. Proceeds will provide support to 10 Norton families who are coping with terminal illness. The game will feature Norton teachers battling it out against eachother. Team Leddy will be made up of Tanya Benoit, Nate Gorbet, Dave Murphy, Ted Currle, Daniel Langmead, Janet Burzyk, George McAuliffe, Mike Vitelli, Julie Pasquantonio and Dom Eno. Lab to be part of new addition at Norton High.
Monday night’s Norton School Committee meeting started out very emotional as Tanya Benoit, a science teacher at Norton High School, made a proposal to name one of the new science labs after her late colleague Peter Leddy. Leddy died after his battle against cancer Dec. 4. He was a member of the science department of Norton High School for over 30 years. In his time at NHS, Leddy was also a volleyball and softball coach, science department chair and photographer. Peter Leddy passes away after battle with cancer.
Norton continues to mourn the loss of long-time Norton High School teacher Peter Leddy today, who died from his battle with cancer Sunday. Leddy was a member of the science department of Norton High School for over 30 years. In his time at NHS, Leddy was also a volleyball and softball coach, science department chair and photographer. “He attended virtually every NHS activity and was a tremendous mentor to younger teachers,” said NHS principal Raymond Dewar. “Peter, to me, was a good friend. I admired his love of learning, his love of teaching and his ongoing desire to become better at both teaching and learning. He was always positive and ready to help. Mr. Leddy was very nice person, great coach, and teacher. He will be missed. I'm sure he would be very happy with this dedication. Let's hope that some of his family members can attend the opening of the new Science lab when it's finished.   more ›
