Norton Pop Warner Football players can pick up their equipment Saturday, July 14. The E-team Mites will pick up their gear 9 a.m. in front of the shed in front of Norton Middle School with the D-team following at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m. the C-team will pick up their equipment while both the A and B teams are scheduled for noon. Practice gear will may be purchased as packages and individual items. There will also be sample sizes in case gear needs to be ordered. Any orders should be in before practices start. Any outstanding paperwork will be collected at this time. Parents or players can also register at this time if they have not done so yet. Bullied bus monitor Karen Klein gets star treatment in Boston.
Bullying doesn't just happen between kids, as New York bus monitor Karen Klein can attest to. Luckily, Norton pop warner cheer squad has proven that not all youths are disrespectful. The Boston Channel's WCVB reports that Klein received star treatment today as she visited Boston for the Mix 104.1 radio show. Along with community members, the Norton Pop Warner squad was there to cheer her on. Klein was taunted by four New York middle school students recently, but the joke is on them as she has received almost $700,000 from sympathizers. All teams sweep Easton.
Norton Pop Warner opened the 2011 season Monday with a full slate of games versus the Easton Wildcats. Easton hosted the games at Oliver Ames High School in their new stadium. NORTON A TEAM Ed Potvin’s A team started the day off with a convincing 28-7 victory. Quarterback Ryan Wood threw for one touchdown and ran in another as Norton controlled the action from the start. Cam Zanoni caught the first touchdown pass of the season providing a great complement to a bruising ground attack. Tyreque Cabrera and Justin Ireland scored rushing touchdowns along with Ryan Wood. Spencer Schweiger pounded the ball between the tackles. Norton’s offensive line anchored by Matt Peterson and Zach Freidman popped open holes in Easton’s front all day. The …
