Nine Lives resident Harry left in tote during rainy weather.
On a rainy Wednesday, it was by sheer luck that the morning volunteer at Nine Lives saw the blue tote with holes punched in it. The container was beside a mailbox, which the shelter no longer uses, so no one would have checked for mail. The girls went through their neighborhood on the K Streets and placed flyers along with trash bags by people's homes May 2. Donations of bleach, pet food, cat litter, towels and more were collected. “The residents are super friendly and as you could see, very generous,” said Krisan Pope, troop co-leader. While some neighbors dropped things at Pope’s house, the rest was collected May 11 and a dozen or so bags of goodies were delivered to Norton Animal Shelter May 16. After they dropped off the supplies, the Girl Scouts were able to play with the cats at the shelter. The community service project was part of a year-…
