Several students from New Testament Christian School, Norton, recently completed a "J-Term" class in amateur (Ham) radio. “The school has a unique way to end the school year,” said administrative assistant Lisa Carvalho. “Students finish up their core classes at the end of May with final exams. Through J-Term, students learn in a hands-on way, taking field trips to historical spots in our state, and participating in projects which would not normally be completed through the regular length.” The young people enrolled in Amateur Radio, four freshmen and a junior, spent two …

“Writing in our world is one of our ultimate expressions of both emotions and ideas. Words give us power, and help us expand our minds in both a logical and creative fashion,” said New Testament Christian High School student, Emmanuel Sutka from Taunton. Sutka wanted to share his passion for writing with fellow students in his school and formed an after school creative writing club. “It is my goal to host an environment that allows those with creative propensities to come and share, as well as expand, their ideas and their minds. It is to show them that their talents make them stronger and more equipped to deal with situations as well as with people,” he said. The club currently has seven students ranging from Grade 5 through 10…

Two seniors persevere to maintain soccer program at New Testament in Norton.
For a while, it looked like their season would be over before it even began. But Nina Jobert and Jzanev Leitao of New Testament Christian School in Norton made sure the Knights soccer program would live on for their senior year. During registration day, the two recruited 11 girls. Other girls said they were interested, but couldn't afford the $200 fee. Nonetheless, they got the minimum amount of girls they needed to play. That number meant they had no substitute players if one got hurt or, even worse, dropped out. Which is what happened. The girls were crushed at the news. “I started crying,” Leitou said. Fortunately, they were given one last chance to recruit at least five girls so that their soccer season could commence. In hopes they …

I am not surprise at the dedication of both Nina and Jzanez as they have always made what ever they have committed to a priority to get it done. It may seam strange to have high school kids playing soccer for the first time on a team but at NTCS it works. The dedication to the team and the coaches always end up with teams that play as one unit and not with the focus on "star" players. Good luck …   more ›
