Men’s Swimming & Diving Earns CSCAA Team Scholar All-America Award

Lyons post 3.13 cumulative grade point average.

The Wheaton College men's swimming and diving team has been named to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Team Scholar All-America list. The Lyons compiled a 3.13 cumulative grade point average (GPA) to earn a spot on the list among 63 other NCAA Division III programs. Two additional programs from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) also made the list including Clark University and Springfield College. Clark posted the highest GPA of any NCAA Division III team at 3.60. Academically, junior Matt Sexton (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack)highlights the squad in the classroom after earning his second-career NEWMAC Academic All-Conference award this season. Men's Swimming & Diving Finishes Sixth Overall in NEWMAC

Lyons establish new school record in 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Wheaton College men's swimming and diving team came in sixth place overall at the conclusion of the 2013 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by MIT, at the Barrie Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center on Sunday evening.  MIT claimed its fifth-straight conference championship title with 1,178 points over the three-day event. Springfield College finished second overall with 658.50 points, Coast Guard ranked third overall with 542 points, WPI was fourth with 477 points and Babson College had 397.50 points for fifth place overall. Men’s Swimming & Diving NEWMAC Championships Preview

Lyons look to improve on last season's seventh place finish.

The Wheaton College men's swimming and diving team will compete in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on Thursday, February 14-Sunday, February 17, hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), at the Barrie Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center. Different from years past, the championship will commence on Thursday night with the preliminary rounds of the men's one-meter diving event. On Friday morning, preliminary heats for both swimming and diving events will start at 10:00 a.m., with consolation and championship heats taking place in the evening at 6:00 p.m. The same format will hold true for Saturday and Sunday of the NEWMAC Championships. Men's Swimming and Diving End Regular Season On High Note

Oliveri closes weekend with four program records.

The Wheaton College men's swimming and diving team concluded day two of the Wheaton Invitational with 14 finishes inside the top-10 on Saturday evening at the Balfour Natatorium. The Lyons hosted Clark University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Tufts University in this weekend's non-scoring invitational. Sophomore diver Ben Oliveri (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury)headlined the Lyons' efforts once again on day two with a pair of school record breaking performances. Oliveri took down Charlie Maier's (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) record in the one-meter dive (11 dives) event with a total score of 471.35 points.
