Q&A With Norton XC Coach Kent Taylor

The Lancers Cross Country teams have started the new year with wins against Bellingham.

The Norton High School boys and girl’s cross country seasons have officially begun, and on Wednesday, both squads earned important victories against Bellingham. The boys are currently 2-0, while the girls are 1-1. Both teams will compete against Hopkinton 3 p.m. Monday in a home meet. Norton Track TVL All-Stars Named

Kent Taylor named Coach of the Year.

The Tri-Valley League spring track All-Stars have been announced. Seven Norton athletes were named to the 1st team. They are Dan Rafuse, Jon Plummer, Ben Donovan, Brian Acker, Dan Lenihan, Tyler Anderson and Mason Rouillard. The 2nd team consists of Ramzi Bechara, Ryan Lapadula and Brian Gannon. Three Norton girls,  Emma Ethier, Kassidy Campbell and Amy Pereira, were named to the 2nd team All-Stars for spring track. Kent Taylor was chosen as the Boys Spring Track Coach of the Year.

Norton Boys Track Looking To Make Its Mark At Division Meet

Lancers striving for top-five finish during Eastern Mass. Division 4 Meet on Friday.

The Norton High boys’ track team will be looking to continue its season-long success during the MIAA Eastern Mass. Division 4 Meet on Friday in North Reading. The Lancers have had an outstanding 2011 campaign and they were rewarded for all their hard work and success during the recent Tri-Valley League All-Star Meeting. Norton had six members of the team named to the league all-star squad. Senior captain Tim Johansmeyer was named to the standout team in the triple jump, while senior captain Jon Sicard was selected in the 200 meters. Senior captain Keegan Campbell made the all-star team in the 800 meters and senior captain Shawn Ferrini did the same in the shot put. Norton Boys Track Looks To Continue Historic Spring

Lancer boys head to Hopkinton on Thursday to challenge for first-ever TVL crown.

It has already been a historic season for the Norton High boys’ track team. And the Lancers will look to make further history when they travel to Hopkinton on Thursday afternoon for a showdown with the perennial league power for the Tri-Valley League dual-meet championship. A convincing 82-49 road victory over Westwood on Monday afternoon allowed Norton to begin the season with a perfect 8-0 record with the eight victories being the most for a Lancer squad since the program joined the TVL. “The season has already been a success,” said Norton coach Kent Taylor. “Anything from here will be a bonus. Record Setting Day For Norton Boys Track

Lancers remain undefeated and set school mark for points during win over Millis.

The train that is the Norton High boys’ outdoor track team continues to roll along. Coming off the biggest victory in the program’s history against Medfield on Monday, the Lancers established a school record for points scored during a 124.5-11.5 victory over Millis in a Tri-Valley League dual meet on Senior Day at Adams Field on Thursday. It has been a historic week for the Lancer boys. It started on Sunday at Bishop Fenwick High in Peabody when Norton registered its highest team placement ever at the MSTCA Division 4 State Relays. The Lancers won two championships and established five new school records during that competition. Norton Boys Track Remains Undefeated

Lancers improve to 4-0 with impressive home win over TVL foe Medway on Tuesday.

The Norton High boys’ outdoor track team continued the terrific start to its season, remaining undefeated with an impressive 110-26 victory over Medway in a Tri-Valley League meet on a warm Tuesday afternoon at Adams Field. The victory improved the Lancers to 4-0, the team having opened the year with wins over Dover-Sherborn, Holliston and Bellingham. It was the third time that they have surpassed 100 points, having scored 108 against the Raiders and 104 against the Blackhawks. The Lancers swept four events on Tuesday, including the 400-meter hurdles, the 100 meters, the 200 meters and the javelin. Norton won 15 of the 16 events overall, jumping out to an 18-0 advantage and later taking leads of 44-6, 68-9, 76-10 and 90-14. “It was an …

Numbers And Talent Propel Norton Boys Track To Undefeated Mark

Lancers stand at 3-0, but have bigger and better things in mind.

To compete for a Tri-Valley League title, you have to have both talent and depth. The Norton High boys’ outdoor track team possesses both of those elements, and that has resulted in the Lancers being able to start the season with a perfect 3-0 record. The Lancers have won their first three meets by at least 30 points. They opened the year with a 108-28 home win over Dover-Sherborn on April 7. Norton then headed to Holliston on April 11 and returned with an 83-53 verdict over the Panthers. It was just the second win ever for Norton over Holliston since the Lancers have been a part of the TVL. “The kids were pumped up and had a fantastic day,” said Norton coach Kent Taylor.
