LETTER TO THE EDITOR

In Thanksgiving, For Each Other

Letter to the editor from Rep. Jay Barrows.

Even in the toughest of times, the human spirit never fails.   Just this past weekend, I was honored to attend a variety of events around my district where the generosity of our friends’ and neighbors’ time, talent and resources was on full display.  In Foxborough, the Annual BIT school fundraising event saw a turnout of 400 parents, school administrators, and supporters. Simultaneously, parents in Mansfield were doing the same good work for their elementary schools. Both events are run by extraordinary volunteers, primarily hard-working mothers, who spend months planning and finding new ways to earn additional dollars for their children and are largely successful.  Thank you. I also joined the Mansfield Pop Warner Awards Night this …

Barrows Supports Brown

Letter to the editor from State Representative Jay Barrows.

Dear Editor:  I’m writing to express my full support for the re-election of U.S. Senator Scott Brown. Scott represents an independent voice for Massachusetts in Congress. Baby Steps Toward Regional Sewer Facility

Selectmen endorse amendment to 2010 legislation allowing for towns to set own fees.

State Representative Jay Barrows told Norton selectmen Thursday the five-year- old effort to expand the Norton based, Mansfield-operated sewer treatment facility on Hill Street is inching towards completion.  He requested the board sign a statement endorsing an amendment to the legislation passed in 2010, a ruling that formally established a wastewater district including the towns of Mansfield, Norton and Foxborough. The amendment allows each member community to set its own fees for new commercial and residential users of sanitary sewer, rather than establishing one set fee for everyone.  The three communities have been meeting over the past two years to pound out the parameters of the agreement. “We’re getting close,” Barrows said.
