State Representatives Jay Barrows (R-Mansfield), Stephen Howitt (R-Seekonk) and Betty Poirier (R-Attleboro) - members of the Small Business Caucus - are reminding local business owners and shoppers that as of 2011 the first weekend after Thanksgiving has been declared Small Business Weekend in Massachusetts. Barrows, Howitt and Poirier were pleased to co-sponsor the House Resolution establishing the Small Business Weekend. State Representatives Elizabeth Poirier (R-North Attleboro) and F. Jay Barrows (R-Mansfield) have announced that they will be holding office hours Friday, March 16 in Norton and other area towns. They will be in Mansfield 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., in Room 3AB of Mansfield Town Hall and Representative Steven Howitt (R-Seekonk) will join them for Norton office hours to be held, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room of Norton Town Hall. In addition to the joint office hours, Representative Poirier will be holding office hours in the Town of North Attleboro, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room of North Attleboro Town Hall. Representatives Steven Howitt (R-Seekonk), Betty Poirier and Jay Barrows will hold a joint Norton office hours 12:30 to 1:30 p.m, at the Norton Town Hall’s selectmen’s meeting room. All constituents are welcome to come and meet with them to discuss state government issues or any other matters of concern. No appointment is necessary.

The Massachusetts House of Representatives may not accomplish more this coming year than they did in the last 12 months - but they will at least look better doing it. The membership recently unanimously passed a proposal put forth by Rep. Betty Poirier (R-North Attleboro) to formalize the dress code for state representatives.
