Norton Still in Need of New Superintendent

School Committee unable to come to agreement with Ann Bradshaw for contract negotiation.

After multiple negotiation sessions with Ann Bradshaw, the School Committee was unable to come to an agreement on contract specifics. "At this time, the Norton Public Schools will be weighing their options on where to proceed further with this," said Committee Chairwoman Beth McManus. Below are the notes of other things discussed at the School Committee meeting Monday night.

Bradshaw Chosen as New Norton Superintendent [VIDEO]

Mashpee superintendent chosen to take over for Dr. Patricia Ansay.

Ann Bradshaw of Mashpee Public Schools has been chosen as the new superintendent for Norton pending contract negotiations. Bradshaw and Susan Cote, of E. Bridgewater Public Schools, came before the Norton School Committee in one last interview Tuesday night. Both fielded tough questions about past experiences in their schools. Bradshaw was asked about an incident where a fifth grader said he hated a class and was going to kill everyone. Because this was the first time the student acted out, the incident was dealt with internally. Police were not notified until a week later when a concerned parent heard what happened. “I had no doubt that this was not a credible threat,” Bradshaw said. School, Superintendent Search Committees Focuses on Two Candidates

The three semi-finalists in the search for a new superintendent of Norton Public Schools were brought before the School Committee for interviews Monday night, and two have been selected to go through the next phase. Superintendents Susan Cote of E. Bridgewater Public Schools and Ann Bradshaw of Mashpee Public School made the cut. The School and Superintendent Search Committees will now schedule site visits to their districts. Deniz Savas said candidate James Kelleher, interim superintendent at Scituate Public Schools, missed the mark and did not give a clear answers.
