Junior JT Taylor at 145 and senior captain Stephen Hudson at 285 were sectional champions, while there were ten other place winners including junior co-captain Mike Travers 2nd at 182, sophomore Elliott Johnson 3rd at 170, junior co-captain Myles McAlpine 3rd at 152, senior Tim Casagni 3rd at 195 and senior captain Jack Cuneo 3rd at 160, sophomore Alek Donovan 5th at 220 and freshmen Aidan Kahn and Deven Schuko both 5th at 106 and 113 respectively. Varsity Wrestling Runnersup at D-3 Tournament

Team finishes with 102 points.

Though they weren't able to keep the lead, the Norton wrestlers managed to finish second (102 points) behind Pembroke (120 points) and well ahead of Wakefield (83.5), Hingham (83), and Hudson (82.5) and the rest of the 53 teams at the Division 3 State Individual Tournament.   An impressive team effort made up for a lack of champions. Though the Lancers had only one finalist, their determined and gutsy performance in the consolations gave them enough points to challenge Pembroke who had four champions.  Placewinners (top 6 in each weight go on to All-States this weekend) for Norton included Mike Travers (2nd at 182), Myles McAlpine (3rd at 152), Tim Casagni (3rd at 195), JT Taylor (4th at 145), Elliott Johnson (6th at 170), Jack Cuneo (7th …

Hudson gets 100th career pin.

Having beaten Dighton-Rehoboth 53-23 on Wednesday, the Norton wrestlers roared into Wayland's field house on Saturday intent on making a statement.  Determined to defend last year's D-3 Central Sectional championship, the Lancers handed Bristol- Plymouth / Coyle-Cassidy a 40-9 loss, beat Tri-County 57-21 and downed host Wayland 42-30.   Sophomore Elliott Johnson (170), juniors Ahrayah Saintius (120), JT Taylor (145) and co-captain Mike Travers (182) all went undefeated on the day as did seniors Tim Casagni (195) and captains Jack Cuneo (160) and Stephen Hudson (285). Norton Varsity Wrestlers Go 21-3

Lose against Holliston but win against Tyngsboro, Cohasset and North Quincy.

In an exciting meet before a vocal home crowd, the Lancers fell to Holliston Wednesday, Jan. 23 but made up for it this weekend with a win against Tyngsboro, Cohasset and Quincy.   The Panthers, state runners-up to Norton in last year's Division 3 State Championship, got the revenge they sought in a meet that came down to the final match in which Alex Mitchell of Holliston hung on to defeat Elliott Johnson of Norton 7-6.  The key to Holliston's victory came in the 285 pound weight class when Donny Murphy reversed and pinned Stephen Hudson, Norton's captain and hero of the 2012 State finals.   There were bright spots for the Lancers who came from behind 31-15 and closed the gap to 34-31 going into the last match of the night. Norton got …
