Women's Lacrosse Upends Wellesley

Lyons score 17-straight goals in victory.

The Wheaton College women's lacrosse team used a dominating performance to upend Wellesley College, 17-4, on Tuesday afternoon in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest. Junior Leila Mills (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) paced the offense with a game-high five markers and two draw controls. Freshman Allie Bush (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk) facilitated play with two goals and a game-high five assists. Classmates Jenna Tewksbury (Concord, Mass./Concord) and Mia Cambi (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) and senior Amy Moreira (Bristol, R.I./Mount Hope) all contributed three goals apiece. Men’s Swimming & Diving Earns CSCAA Team Scholar All-America Award

Lyons post 3.13 cumulative grade point average.

The Wheaton College men's swimming and diving team has been named to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Team Scholar All-America list. The Lyons compiled a 3.13 cumulative grade point average (GPA) to earn a spot on the list among 63 other NCAA Division III programs. Two additional programs from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) also made the list including Clark University and Springfield College. Clark posted the highest GPA of any NCAA Division III team at 3.60. Academically, junior Matt Sexton (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack)highlights the squad in the classroom after earning his second-career NEWMAC Academic All-Conference award this season. Wheaton Softball Sweeps MIT On The Road

The Wheaton College softball team swept a pair of New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) games against MIT by scores of 6-5, and 8-0 on Saturday afternoon at Briggs Field. Wheaton 6, MIT 5 Freshman Emma Hart (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) and junior Ashley Brillon (Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan) knocked in a combined five runs to pace the Lyons offense. Junior Allison Baker (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) earned the win (8-5) on four innings pitched, nine hits and four runs (three earned). Wheaton College senior outfielder Sean Ryan(Norton, Mass./Norton) knocked in a game-high four runs to lead the Lyons, ranked no.10 overall in the latest D3baseball.com national poll, over WPI by an 18-2 score in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Thursday evening at Sidell Stadium. The Engineers were tabbed as the home team for today's contest in a makeup game originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 2 in Worcester, Mass. Women’s Tennis Sweeps Wheaton Invitational

The Wheaton College women's tennis team earned victories in every match of its own tournament inside Beard Field House on Sunday afternoon against Clark University, Curry College and Salve Regina University. Junior Lyndsay Cooke (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield Christian)defeated Megan Mulrooney (Curry) 8-0 in the opening flight and posted a straight-sets triumph over Kasey Walther (Salve Regina) in the championship round at No.1 singles. At No.2 singles, sophomore Alexandra Marlowe (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View) posted an 8-0 victory over Ana Gwozdz (Salve Regina) in her first flight. Women’s Track & Field Places 6th Overall At Snowflake Classic

The Wheaton College women's track and field team finished sixth overall out of 23 teams with 54 points at the Snowflake Classic, hosted by Tufts University, on Saturday evening. Tufts won its own invitational with 124 points ahead of Boston College (80 points) and Northeastern University (71 points). Worcester State University scored 66.50 points to earn fourth place honors while Harvard University rounded out the top-5 with 57 points. Senior Sylvia Okoye (Stanhope, N.J./Pope John XXIII Regional)ranked in the top-10 in three events and set one school record to highlight the Lyons' efforts. The Wheaton College men's tennis team fell to MIT, ranked no.20 overall in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings, by a score of 8-1 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Clark Tennis Courts. Freshman Jonah Feit (Los Angeles, Calif./Milken Community)defeated MIT junior Edwin Zhang (Falls Church, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS for Science and Tech) who is ranked no.6 overall in the Northeast Regional rankings by a score of 3-6, 6-2 and 10-8 at No.1 singles. Wheaton Places Sixth Overall At U.S. Collegiate Nationals

The Wheaton College synchronized swimming team placed sixth overall at the U.S. Collegiate Nationals, hosted by Stanford University at the Avery Aquatics Center, with 47.5 points. The host Cardinal captured their seventh U.S. Collegiate Nationals title with 97.0 points while Ohio State University was second (78.0) and Lindenwood University ranked third (76.0). The Wheaton College men's lacrosse team had six different players score at least two goals to defeat Salve Regina University, 15-5, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening at Mirrione Stadium.
