Norton Police Release Security Photo of Everett Leonard Park Vandal

Anyone with information are asked to call police.

Norton Police Department has released the photo of one of the suspects involved with the vandalism at Everett Leonard Park late October. The suspects littered the property with beer cans, then kicked in the wood window into the office. According to Norton Parks and Recreation chairwoman Sheri Cohen, they proceeded to go through everything in the office and use the fire extinguisher, which then then stole. The suspects also stole a lifeguard rescue tube for the pool and stole a new grill from the shed. While the vandals put tape over a security camera, one was caught on another. Police have been trying to identify the subject. Receive updates to this story and other breaking news in your inbox or smartphone by signing up for our newsletter …

Eagle Scout Candidate Constructs Flagpole for Park

CJ Weber hopes to earn highest Scout rank and for park vandals to be caught.

Once again, an Eagle Scout candidate in Norton has shown that he will fulfill his oath of influencing citizens in his troop and community to follow in his footsteps of goodwill. Currently a Life Scout, 17-year-old CJ Weber recently installed a flag pole and garden at Everett Leonard Park. Bill Seaver provided the electrical work so the flag could be illuminated at night.  “I chose this for my project because I figured I would be able to visit it and it will be around for years,” Weber said. He invested almost $1,000 and 130 hours on the project. Over 30 of those hours were spent on planning and gathering materials alone. Donations were gathered from family and friends to defray the cost. Let Patch save you time. Get great local stories …

Police Trying to Identify Everett Leonard Park Vandals

Suspects caught on DVD.

Police are investigating the vandalization of Everett Leonard Park after members of Norton Parks and Recreation found the property in disarray last week. Though for the most part people respect the park, it was vandalized in the past. As a result, Norton Parks and Recreation installed new cameras a few months ago to keep an eye on the new basketball hoops. Though the suspects put tape over the camera in the pavillion, they were caught on another one. Norton Police Department is in the process of reviewing the DVD to see if any of the suspects can be identified. “I am really hopeful that we can find out who did this, and if it is a bunch of kids thinking it was something fun to do, that I can show them how their actions have affected others…

Norton Sees Increase in Vandals

Mailbox vandalism on the rise during the summer.

Norton has seen a rise in vandalism over the past couple of months, and police say it’s probably not a coincidence that it has coincided with school vacation.  “It’s more common during summer,” said Norton Police Lieutenant Todd Jackson, who noted the vandals are most likely area kids.  On July 30 on Newcomb Street, several area mailboxes were smashed. At another house on the street, a mailbox was pulled out of the ground and the resident’s car was painted. Just a few hours later, a report of another mailbox vandalism was filed on Lincoln Street.
