Women's Track & Field Posts Several Top Performances At Yale Invitational

Little wins 60-meter hurdles.

The Wheaton College women's track & field team competed in the Yale Invitational, hosted by Yale University, on Saturday afternoon at the Coxe Cage. Today's meet was an unscored friendly which featured such teams as Sacred Heart, Central Connecticut State, Williams and Brown University among others.  Junior Ashante Little (Seabrook, N.H./Winnacunnet) earned Wheaton's only first place finish of the afternoon capturing top honors in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.87-seconds. Little qualified for the finals with a time of 9.03-seconds in the prelims.  Little also helped the 4x400-meter relay team to a second place finish as the junior teamed up with senior Samantha Bennett(Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) and juniors Meredith Scannell (San …

Track Boys Shave the Mohawks 69-16

Lancers take eight out of nine 1st place finishes.

Congrats to the Norton High School boys track team who move to 5-1 on the season after beating Millis 69-16.  The boys took eight out of nine first places. Leading the charge for the Lancers was Kevin O'Leary who won the 45 Dash, the High Jump, and came in 2nd in the shotput with a new PR of 39'5".  Other first place finishers for the Lancers included: Max Marcotte (mile), Danny Lenihan (600), Anthony Hallgren (300), Mason Rouillard (1000), Billy Sullivan (2 Mile) and Jack Keane (shotput).  Other notables on the day:  Brandon Durocher - 2nd 45 Hurdles, 2nd High Jump Joe Colley - 2nd 45 Dash, 3rd Shotput Mike Tierney - 2nd 600, 3rd High Jump Cam Eisnor - 2nd Mile Parker Cleathero - 2nd 1000 Chris Wrenn - 2nd 2 Mile Nick Skotny - 3rd 1000 …

Women’s Track & Field Shines In Season Debut At Southern Maine Invitational

Claflin posts first place finishes in three events.

The Wheaton College women's track and field team opened up its 2012-13 season at the University of Southern Maine Invitational in the Costello Field House on Saturday afternoon. The invitational, which featured seven schools and several unattached runners, was a non-scoring meet. Senior captain Amanda Claflin (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke)highlighted the Lyons efforts on the afternoon taking first place in the 55-meter dash, the long jump and 4x400-meter relay. Claflin posted a time of 7.34-seconds in the finals of the 55-meter dash and a distance of 17-feet and 6-inches in the long jump. Norton Track TVL All-Stars Named

Kent Taylor named Coach of the Year.

The Tri-Valley League spring track All-Stars have been announced. Seven Norton athletes were named to the 1st team. They are Dan Rafuse, Jon Plummer, Ben Donovan, Brian Acker, Dan Lenihan, Tyler Anderson and Mason Rouillard. The 2nd team consists of Ramzi Bechara, Ryan Lapadula and Brian Gannon. Three Norton girls,  Emma Ethier, Kassidy Campbell and Amy Pereira, were named to the 2nd team All-Stars for spring track. Kent Taylor was chosen as the Boys Spring Track Coach of the Year.

Women Finish Second, Men 13th at ECAC Championship

Women snag 60 points while men garner 21.

The Wheaton College women's outdoor track & field team placed second while the men took 13th at the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I-III Championship Friday afternoon at RPI. The women finished with 60 points and the men notched 21 points. Sophomore Ashante Little (Seabrook, N.H./Winnacunnet) won the 400m hurdles (55.78) and placed second in the 200m dash (24.99). She was also part of Wheaton's fifth-place 4x100m relay team that posted a time of 48.49, along with senior Lauren Cardarelli (Cranston, R.I./La Salle), junior Amanda Claflin (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke), and sophomore Amber Spencer (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley).  Senior Didine Jusme (Providence, R.I./Classical) won the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.46. …

Norton Jumps Hurdles to Beat Record Twice

Team sets Div. 4 record and unveils their secret weapon.

Norton High School’s track team has had a tremendous season, despite a few physical and figurative hurdle’s they’ve had to jump over. All season long, the Norton 4x50 yard Shuttle Hurdle team of Ramzi Bechara, Ben Donovan, James Sicard and Ryan Lapadula worked hard, and that work paid off at the MSTCA Division IV State Relays Jan. 14. “We went in thinking we were going to do pretty well, but we had no idea that when we go there we were going to win and set the state record. So that was really cool, but then there was a problem,” said Sicard. The meet was held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. The 200-meter track is indoors.
