Fear, Sharma place fifth overall in respective events.
The Wheaton College men's track and field team turned in a 17th place performance at the Roadrunner Invitational, hosted by Ramapo College, Saturday afternoon. Senior Sam Fear (Bath, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) finished fifth in the high jump clearing a height of 6-feet and 0.75-inches. Sophomore Ben Sharma (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) ranked fifth overall in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.81-seconds and ninth overall in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.85-seconds. In the 4x400-meter relay, Fear teamed up with freshmen Sam Miklovich (Gray New Gloucester, Maine/Gray New Gloucester) and Alexei Spinu (New Cannon, Mass./New Cannon) and sophomore Nathan Sheridan (Albuquerque, N.M./Desert Academy) for ninth place overall in 3:33.25. …

The Wheaton College women's track and field team finished sixth overall out of 23 teams with 54 points at the Snowflake Classic, hosted by Tufts University, on Saturday evening. Tufts won its own invitational with 124 points ahead of Boston College (80 points) and Northeastern University (71 points). Worcester State University scored 66.50 points to earn fourth place honors while Harvard University rounded out the top-5 with 57 points. Senior Sylvia Okoye (Stanhope, N.J./Pope John XXIII Regional)ranked in the top-10 in three events and set one school record to highlight the Lyons' efforts. The Wheaton College men's track and field team opened up its 2013 outdoor season at the Bridgewater State University Invitational on Saturday afternoon with several strong performances in the non-scoring meet. Freshmen Alexei Spinu (New Cannon, Mass./New Cannon) andSam Miklovich (Gray New Gloucester, Maine/Gray New Gloucester), sophomore Nathan Sheridan (Albuquerque, N.M./Desert Academy) and senior Sam Fear (Bath, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) posted the highest finish for the Lyons coming in at second overall in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:36.03. The Wheaton College women's track & field team, ranked no.7 overall in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national poll, finished tied for ninth overall at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by North Central College, on Saturday evening at the Al B. Carius Track facility. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the team title with 56 points for its ninth national championship in program history. The Wheaton College women's track & field team, ranked no.7 overall in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national poll, will send five student-athletes to the 2013 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 8-9 in Naperville, Illinois, hosted by North Central, at the Al B. The Wheaton College men's track and field distance medley relay team placed 23rd overall at the 2013 All-New England Championships hosted by Boston University on Friday night. Sophomore John Green (Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) ran the opening 1,200-meter leg, senior co-captain Sam Fear (Bath, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) sprinted the 400-meter run second leg, sophomore Harry Bachrach (Chesnut Hill, Mass./Beaver Country Day) competed in the 800-meter third leg and senior Michael Richard (Chicopee, Mass./Holyoke Catholic)brought home the DMR in the 1,600-meter leg. The Wheaton College women's track and field team, ranked no.10 overall in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), placed 19th out of 36 teams at the All-New England Championships, hosted by Boston University, on Saturday evening. The Wheaton College women's track & field team, ranked no.22 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III national poll, posted several strong performances at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational this past weekend at the NYC Armory. The Lyons also sent two members of the men's squad to the invitational. The Norton Lancer boys track and field team came to fight at the the Tri-Valley League Championships Sunday and with their runner-up finish attained their highest finish ever at the TVL Championships. Underclassmen lead Lyons at Northeastern meet.
The Wheaton College men's track & field team finished in 13th place at the second annual Joe Donahue Games, hosted by Northeastern University, at the Reggie Lewis Center Friday. Other schools who participated included Northeastern, Stonehill, Vermont, UMass Amherst, Maine, Hartford, Cobleskill, New Hampshire, Holy Cross, Boston College, Brown University and Williams.
