Tell Us: Are Taxes in Norton Too High?

In November, Norton approved a tax rate of $14.92 across the board for residential and commercial/industrial properties. This meant an increase of $246 for the average single family home. Increases felt by commercial and industrial properties vary by size – small commercial properties would see a 10 percent increase, or $473, and the largest would pay $5,877 more, also a 10 percent increase. The tax rate in Norton his now higher than Attleboro, Taunton, N. Attleboro and Rehoboth. It would be nice if the new property tax income would go towards improving the drinking water in the town. It would be fantastic if the town administrators found clean drinking water to be as high of a priority as they found new carpeting in the town hall and library, which they spent almost $100K on last year.   more ›
