Norton's Schweiger Attempts to Earn St. Louis Rams' Roster Spot

Norton's Nick Schweiger is hoping for a strong showing when the St. Louis Rams hosts the Kansas City Chiefs Saturday night.

  Norton's Nick Schweiger is battling for a spot on the St. Louis Rams' roster as a free-agent running back. The Dartmouth College and Bishop Feehan standout will be hoping to see action Saturday night when the Rams host the Kansas City Chiefs. He played in the Rams' 38-3 loss to rookie quarterback Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts last week. Schweiger is being used on a special teams in addition to his running back duties.

St. Louis Rams Announce Norton's Schwieger's Signing

The St. Louis Rams announced the free agent signing of Norton's Nick Schwieger.

  The St. Louis Rams officially announced the signing of Norton's Nick Schwieger to a free agent contract. He was one of 23 free agents signed over the weeked. The Dartmouth College running back will faced a crowd field at his position for a final spot on the Rams. St. Louis took two running backs in the draft and then added Jacksonville State's Calvin Middleton and Schwieger. They also added fullback Todd Anderson out of Michigan State. At Dartmouth, Schwieger was the school's all-time rushing leader. He is also a former standout at Bishop Feehan.

Norton's Schwieger Signs With St. Louis Rams

Former Bishop Feehan standout Nick Schwieger signed a free agent contact to play for the St. Louis Rams.

  Norton's Nick Schwieger, a former standout at Bishop Feehan, signed a free agent contract with the St. Louis Rams. After going undrafted after an outstanding career at Dartmouth College, Schwieger inked a contract shortly after the draft ended. At Dartmouth, Schwieger was one of the top running backs in the school's history, finishing his senior year with 1,310 yards and 10 touchdowns on 241 carries. He also caught 23 passes for 119 yards, earning third team Associated Press honors.  The 5 foot, 10 inch, Schwieger is first in all-purposed yards at Dartmouth with 4,115.
