Norton Resident Wins Comcast Scholarship

One of 112 Massachusetts graduating high school seniors recognized for academic achievement and community service.

Norton High graduating senior Audra Schlehuber was recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship in recognition of her dedication to community service, achievement in the classroom and leadership. She is one of 112 Massachusetts graduating seniors receiving scholarships totaling $121,000 statewide. The awards are funded by Comcast Foundation and are a part of the Leaders and Achievers Scholarship program. Schlehuber was also awarded a Massachusetts Senate citation, officially recognizing her achievements.  Schlehuber received her award and citation during a recent ceremony at the Massachusetts State House. Norton Parks and Rec Get Financial Boost

Department awarded $2,000 by the New England Youth Recreation Sponsorship.

The Norton Parks and Recreation Department, which is run by all volunteers, is getting a boost to its coffers this year. Earlier this month, it was awarded $2,000 by the New England Youth Recreation Sponsorship (NEYRS), a non-profit organization that awards small financial contributions to recreation and youth committees across New England. The award is the non-profit’s first donation, said Danielle Riley, a NEYRS board member.  Sheri Cohen and Jennifer Hoffman of the Norton Recreation Board learned of NEYRS and their mission to give back to local communities and submitted a nomination request.
