Festival of Lights Set for Sunday

The holidays wouldn’t be the same without the annual Festival of Lights on the Norton Town Common to take place this Sunday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. Like last year, the Norton Singers and Tim Brown will be singing carols to get visitors in the holiday spirit. There will also be hot cocoa, cookies. The highlight of the evening will be the arrival of Santa Claus by fire truck and the lighting of the Town Common. Afterward, children are encouraged to have their photos taken with Santa and Mrs. Clause in Santa’s house for $3 per family. Kids can also let Santa know what they’d like for Christmas in a letter and receive a personalized letter from him in return. No child will be denied a letter, but a $3 donation is requested to support the …

Parks and Rec Prepare for Festival of Lights

Chance for children to meet Santa.

The Norton Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for the annual Festival of Lights, which will be held 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4. The holiday celebration will take place in the Town Common. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by fire truck and meet the children in Santa’s house for pictures. There will also be Christmas carols, hot chocolate and cookies. New this year is a craft station. Children will also be able to leave their letters to Santa in a mailbox and then will receive a personalized letter back. Memorial Lights purchased from the Norton Community Lions Club will also be lit on the Common Christmas tree in memory of loved ones. Santa Claus Vists Winslow Farm

Winslow Farm's bake sale event drew special guest, Kris Kringle.

Winslow Farm was decorated in holiday splendor Saturday and hosted a very special guest. Santa Claus greeted children that afternoon and evening.  Children got to have their pictures taken with him and told him their Christmas wish list. Visitors were also given tours of the farm and enjoyed a cozy campfire. The event was held to raise money for the care of the animals at the farm. Sheri Cohen of Norton Parks and Rec gives a shout out to those involved with Festival of Lights.

On behalf of the Norton Parks and Recreation Department, we would like to thank the community for coming out and enjoying a fun family night this past Sunday at our Festival of Lights.  The turnout was tremendous despite the cold temperatures. VIDEO: Norton Celebrates Festival Of Lights

Santa was delivered by fire truck to plug in the lights on the town green and visit with the town's children.

Norton celebrated the annual Festival of Lights tonight. Aside from many children waiting for one guest in particular, Fire Chief Richard Gomes, musician Terri G., Selectman Timothy Giblin and Norton Tricentennial Committee members were in attendance. The most notable guest of all, however, was Santa Claus himself who hitched a ride on a fire truck. Children were able to give letters to Santa as part of the event with the help of Norton Parks and Recreation Commission. And through Dec. 20, they may continue to drop off a letter at the Santa House. In order for Santa to respond to the letters, it is asked that a form is filled out with the child's name, gender and address. The commission is also asking for donations of $3 per family to …
