Southeastern to Offer Gateway Summer Academy of Engineering

Program to include insight to science, technology, engineering and math industries.

This summer, Southeastern Regional High School is offering 7th and 8th grade students from surrounding towns an opportunity to enroll in the Gateway Summer Academy of Engineering.   As part of the federally-sponsored, Project Lead the Way (PLTW) program, the Gateway Summer Academy of Engineering will provide attending students a combination of extracurricular and physical activities as well as engineering subjects like space and flight, design and modeling, and robotics, to name a few. The GatewaySummer Academy of Engineering is specifically geared to expose middle school students to STEM subjects by way of varied and interactive projects.  It is hoped that with this exposure, students may recognize their own personal interests in these up…

Norton Students Explore Biotech Futures

Hands-on event links students with biotech, life sciences, STEM careers.

On Jan. 11, over 240 Massachusetts high school students and teachers participated in Biotech Futures, including Norton’s own Marissa McCabe and Kaitlin Murrin. Biotech Futures is a full-day career exploration event featuring scientist speakers, panel presentations, company presentations, science demonstrations and laboratory visits at Bridgewater State University. The event, organized by the Massachusetts Biotechnology Education Foundation (MassBioEd) is part of an ongoing effort to increase interest in careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields.
