Approximately 50 gallons leaked on the highway.
The Department of Environmental Protection responded to a tractor trailer that was turned on its side on Route 495 South in Norton Tuesday afternoon. The accident took place on exit 10. The exit was blocked off for several hours. The driver had to be extricated from his vehicle. No injuries have been reported, but there was a fluid leak. Reports on The Mass Incident Paging Facebook page say that 50 to 75 gallons of fuel were leaked on the highway.

One man was trapped inside the vehicle on the ramp to Route 95 North for over 30 minutes.
The Route 495 South ramp to Route 95 was closed today at around 9 a.m. after a tractor trailer rolled over. The driver, a 48-year-old male, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital according to state police. He was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle for over half an hour. Fire and EMS personell from Mansfield, Norton and Foxborough were on the scene.

Another Norton teen was issued a summons arrest during the incident in Mansfield.
Mansfield Police arrested a Norton teenager after she allegedly rolled her vehicle on Oak Street into a stone wall and a utility pole. Marianne Travers, 19, of Stonyfield Road in Norton was arrested for operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of illegal drugs and underage possession of alcohol. Travers allegedly rolled her vehicle on Oak Street and hit a utility pole in the collision. She was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with a leg injury. Kyle Almeida, 19, of Crestwood Drive in Norton was issued a summons for underage possession of alcohol.

It is with great sadness that I report that a Norton student, Angel Pina, passed away yesterday, Thursday, July 12th, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Route 24 near the Stoughton/Avon line. Angel was a fifth grader at the H.A. Yelle School and was scheduled to attend Norton Middle School in September. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Angel’s family and friends. Arrangements for services will be posted on the school district website, when they are available. School counselors will be available for students on Monday, July 16th from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Yelle School, 64 West Main Street, Norton. Pat Ansay

On Thursday night, 19-year-old Norton resident Jessica Lake was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Norton Fire Department for injuries she sustained in a rollover car accident. The driver, Christian Lewis, 24, who lives at the same address as Lake, was not injured. He was charged by Norton Police Department with negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Norton police and fire responded to the area of 417 Reservoir St. in the area of at about 7:30 p.m. for several reports of a motor vehicle crash. The single vehicle involved in the crash had traveled off the right shoulder of the road and struck a tree stump, which caused the vehicle to roll over and rest on its roof. Norton Police seeking criminal complaint through the Attleboro District Court.
On Aug. 4 at 11:30 p.m., Norton Police and Fire Departments responded to 13 E. Hodges St. for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a single vehicle. Several area residents called police to report that the vehicle was on its roof in the front yard of the residence at that address and there were three occupants inside. The operator and one passenger fled the scene prior to the officers' arrival. The third passenger, Matthew Bushey, 21, of Burt Street, Norton, was transported to Sturdy Hospital by the Norton Fire Department. Officers determined that the vehicle was traveling west on E. Massachusetts State Police units from the Foxboro barracks are on-scene of a rollover crash involving a tractor trailer unit that occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Route 495 North in the vicinity of Exit 10 in Norton. The right lane is currently closed. The operator sustained minor injuries and was transported by EMS. More information is to come.
