New Testament Christian School Announces Fall 2013 Registration

Shadow Day to be held Feb. 13.

New Testament Christian School is now accepting applications for the 2013-2014 school year for students entering pre-kindergarten (age 3), kindergarten, elementary and high school.  New Testament Christian School offers Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs with after care available. Families with children who turn 3 before Oct. 1 will be able to apply for a limited number of spaces in half- or full-day sections on two days of the week beginning this coming September. Options are also available for 4 year-olds, including half- or full-day sessions three days a week or full-days five days of the week. Last Chance: Last Day to Register to Vote is Wednesday

The last day to register to vote for the Annual Town Election and the Annual Town Meeting is Wednesday, April 4.  The Norton Town Clerks Office, located on the first floor of Town Hall, 70 E. Main St., will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on this day. Town Hall is open for regular hours Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursdays 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.   The Annual Town Election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 24.  Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. with all Precincts (1,2,3,4,5) voting at Norton High School.   The Annual Town Meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 14, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Norton Middle School. Norton Youth Soccer has begun signups for their annual summer clinic to be held at Norton Middle School in late July and early August. Unlike previous years, the clinic will take place over two weeks with the option to attend either one of the weeks or both. The annual clinic, open for boys and girls aged 5 to 16, is designed to help improve the skills of all levels of soccer players. Participants can expect a week of basic and advance ball and skills education. There will be games for the clinic tournament every day and goalkeeping training will be provided for any keeper attending the clinic. Norton Public Schools are now accepting kindergarten registration for the 2011-2012 school year. Registration packets are available at Joseph C. Solmonese Elementary School, 315 W. Main St., and at L. G. Nourse Elementary School, 38 Plain St. Any child who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31, 2011, may be admitted to kindergarten. At the time of registration, a birth certificate and proof of residency must be presented. All students must be immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough (DTP), measles, mumps and polio. State law also requires a physical examination as well as a vision screening. No child may enter school until these requirements are met. Town Dog Registration to be Computerized

Is the town going to the dogs? Apparently, hundreds of Norton dog owners are thumbing their noses at the town regulation requiring dogs to be licensed with the town clerk. One article on the special town meeting scheduled for Jan. 19 aim to arm the animal control officer with updated computer software that will make it easier to track dogs that are licensed, and another will propose to change the registration date for licensing. Town Manager Jim Purcell said the $8,000 transfer requested at town meeting in Article 3 will provide both hardware and software that will allow the animal officer to sort by address, owner name, and any disease issue.
