The last day to register to vote or to change your political party for the upcoming State Primary is Friday, Aug. 17. The Norton Town Clerks Office, located on the first floor of Town Hall, 70 E. Main St. will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on this day. Town Hall is open for regular hours Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursdays 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The State Primary Election is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 6. I just wanted to take this time to express my gratitude towards all those who helped me on Super Tuesday and the voters who elected me to represent them in the Republican State Committee. I would like to ensure those who voted for me that I do not take this assignment lightly and will do my best to be easily accessible to my constituents and hold true to what I talked about on the campaign trail. We have a lot of work to do as Republicans and I look forward to rolling up my sleeves with others to gain more ground in the State House and other local offices to help bring some balance to Massachusetts. Norton casts 862 votes in his favor.
Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney ran away with the Republican presidential primary win in Norton this Super Tuesday. Voting with the state, Norton casted 862 votes in his favor. The unofficial results released from Town Clerk Danielle Sicard revealed that Rick Santorum, who came in second with a total of 171 votes, beat out President Barack Obama by one vote. Coming in fourth was Ron Paul with 130 votes. Newt Gingrich garnered 61 votes, Michele Bachmann four, Rick Perry five and Jon Huntsman finished with one. Horace A. C. Mello Jr. garnered 913 votes, making him the favorite for the republican State Committeeman. Claire B.
