Great Time Of Year For Boston Sports Fans

If you follow Boston teams, this is the time of year you have to love.

This is a great time of year to be a devoted sports fan. Of course, as far as I am concerned, there is no bad time to be a sports fan. But early spring and late fall are two of the exceptional times if you are a follower of Boston professional sports. The Celtics are in the playoffs, limping through their opening series against the New York Knicks. They are headed towards a second round confrontation with the mighty Miami Heat and LeBron James, a series that should be a lot of fun to watch.  Here’s hoping the Green can once again leave James as “The King Without A Ring." The Bruins are also in the playoffs, locked in a tough opening round battle with their arch rivals to the north, the Montreal Canadiens. I admit I am not the world’s …

7 Things to Do on Super Bowl Sunday If You Really Don’t Care About the Game

Go out, and don't be ashamed.

Unlike the millions of viewers who will tune in to watch the Super Bowl today, maybe you just don’t care about football. There’s no need to attend a Super Bowl party and pretend you’re excited about something you’re not. And you don’t have to hide indoors, shades drawn, with the Lifetime Channel on either. Go out, proudly, head held high, and take advantage of the traffic-free roadways and desolate shopping and entertainment venues. Here are some suggestions: 1.) Home Depot: Not a he-man in sight! Super Bowl Sunday is the best day to go shopping at your hardware superstore. Usually, we’d recommend the local hardware store, such as Aubuchon, but hey, people know you there and you don’t want the word to get out. 2.) The MFA’s Art of the …

Pats Head To Playoffs - Thanks To The Snowman

Our yearly Snowman is Patriots good luck charm once again

If the Patriots win their two playoff games in Foxboro this month and advance to the Super Bowl, it will be for one simple reason. No, not Tom Brady and his record-setting play at quarterback. Not the brilliance of coach Bill Belichick or the leadership of owner Bob Kraft. It won't be the offensive or defensive lines, little Danny Woodhead, the trading of Randy Moss, or the home field advantage that is Gillette Stadium. It will be because I built the snowman. As you can see in the picture above, it isn't much of a snowman.  I get no points for artistic ability or sculpting expertise.
