(From Norton Memorial Funeral Home) Louise (Tobin) Lynch, age 92, of Norton, formerly of Roslindale, died on Monday, April 22, 2013. After more than a decade's journey through diabetic vascular dementia, she remained loving and sweet to the end; she embodied the selfless mother - her family, including her nieces and nephews, were the center of her life. She will be remembered for her civic involvement, integrity, kindness and dedication to others. Her friends knew her best for her sense of humor, intellect, ability at Scrabble, and her loyalty and generosity: including driving those in need to Boston hospitals - often in the middle of the night. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Zottoli) Tobin, wife of 49 years of the …

The Norton Public Library will be hosting a Star Wars Symposium Saturday.
1. The sun will be out today, according WHDH TV, with temperatures in mid-30s. 2. The Norton Public Library will be holding a Star Wars Symposium, Saturday, Dec. 29, at 10 a.m. 3. The Norton High wrestling team will be taking part in the Marshfield Tournament today. 4. With last night's Norton Board of Selectmen's meeting canceled, they will next be meeting Thursday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. at town hall. 5. The Children's Museum in Easton is having Family New Year's Eve Parties 2012, Dec. 31, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be magic shows, 11 a.m., noon, 2 and 3 p.m., confetti blast countdowns at 1 and 4 p.m., balloon artist and face painting for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pizza and drinks will be available. The cost is $10 per person and $5 for members.

The Norton Public Libary is hosting events for the Christmas vacation week. Dec. 26-27: Boredom Busters: Fun activies for ages 1-10 to beat the mid-vacation boredom are being held from 10 a.m. to noon for the whole family. A commitment of both days is required. Dec. 27: Knot Just Knitting is being held from 1-2:30 p.m. This is a group for those who want to share and compare knitting and crocheting projects. From beginner to expert participants are welcome. Patrons now able to participate in SAILS network.
Norton Public Library has officially been recertified by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. In order to be recertified, the library needed to be open 40-hours a week and spend money on supplies and programming. Norton was among many libraries that met the requirements for the FY2013 State Aid to Public Libraries program, and 167 were collectively awarded more than $1.5 million in state aid funds by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners at its Dec. 6, 2012 Board Meeting. Norton Public Library last applied to the program in fiscal year 2009, but was denied a Municipal Appropriaion Requirement waiver due to a 33 percent cut. Let Patch save you time.
