The Lancers can now qualify for the postseason tournament as early as next week with two more wins. Up 1-0 going into the second inning, a three run rally by the Lancers extended the lead to four after two innings of play. The Lancers took advantage of their speed and played small ball to get Maggie Morris, Christine Tamulis, and Carly Acaro across the plate. "That’s what we’ve been working on. Lacking Momemtum, Norton Boys' Basketball Eliminated From Tournament by Rockland 50-34

James Loring led the Lancers with 11 points. Rockland's Matt Nicholson was the leading scorer with 19 points.

There was one point in the third quarter of Norton’s boys’ basketball game against the Rockland Bulldogs where the Lancers looked like they were only a shot or two away from finally getting some momentum. Seconds later, a six point Rockland lead was quickly increased to 13 points. Facing a quick team and unable to feel comfortable on offense, the Lancers’ season ended with a 50-34 loss to the Bulldogs in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Division 3 South boys’ basketball tournament. The Lancers finish the season with a 16-6 record.   Bulldogs Too Fast For Norton With full court presses and a strong presence in the low post, Rockland was able to disrupt the Norton offense for most of the night by making them uncomfortable and refusing to let …

Norton Boys' Basketball Waltz Past Canton 55-39

With the win, the Lancers advance to the quarterfinals on the MIAA Division 3 South Tournament.

From the opening tip-off to the final buzzer, there was little doubt concerning which team was stronger during Norton’s showdown with Canton in the first round of the MIAA Division 3 South tournament. Still recovering from their preliminary match against Abington from earlier in the week, the 12th seeded Bulldogs struggled against No. 5 Norton as the Lancers walked away with a convincing 55-39 win. Starting the game on an 8-2 run, the Lancers were able to find penetration into the low post to quickly build a double digit lead that would exist for most of the game. During the third quarter, a small run by the Bulldogs cut the lead to eight before the Lancers  were able to take a 14 point lead into the fourth quarter. Foul Trouble Halts …

Norton Boys' Hoops Beat Westwood, Win Share of TVL Title

With a 42-39 win over Westwood and a Medway win over Hopkinton, the Norton Lancers will win at least a share of the TVL title.

While there was not very much scoring in Norton’s match against Westwood Tuesday night, it was a game for the defensive enthusiasts to enjoy as the Lancers toughed out a 42-39 win over Westwood to improve to 13-4 in league play and 14-4 overall. “That’s the prettiest ugly win we’ve ever had,” Norton head coach Marc Liberatore said. “If you love defensive basketball and playing as hard as you can it wasn’t better than that. If you want the ball to go in a lot you’re in the wrong place.” A basket from Joe Lally (15 points) at the beginning of the first quarter would give Westwood their first and only lead of the night as Norton started the game outscoring the Wolverines 14-2 in the opening quarter.
