The Norton High football team defeated Bellingham, 14-13, Thanksgiving Day in Bellingham.
It will definitely be a Thanksgiving Day game both Norton and Bellingham High football teams will remember for years to come. Not only was Bellingham standout Ricky Santos honored at halftime with his number being retired, but the Hawks took to playing like their assistant coach. Trailing 14-0 to Norton early in the fourth quarter, Bellingham made a game of this 11th annual Thanksgiving Day extravaganza, but failed on the 2-point conversion that would have given them the win. Norton escaped with a 14-13 Tri-Valley league win. “I was going for the win for these kids the whole way. I knew when we scored, I could see it in their eyes that they wanted to go for it and I did too,” Bellingham head coach Dan Maclean said. “I thought that we had…

Jenkins ends Lancer football career with two touchdowns.
Nick Jenkins’ name was followed by a question mark before the Norton High football team's Thanksgiving Day game against Bellingham. First, there was the question of whether the senior running back-linebacker would even play in the 16th meeting of the two schools. And, there was question if he could play, how much would he play? “I didn't practice much because of my hip,” said Jenkins. “I had an injury last week, but I want to go this week, because it was my last game. Coach (Ted Currle) only played me one-way most of the time, but when I got in on offense, I had to do what I had to do to score.” He did reach the end zone twice, once receiving and once rushing as the Lancers defeated Bellingham, 27-12, in Norton to finish the season at 5-6 …

Norton High football team falls to Hopkinton, 42-21, Friday night.
The Hopkinton High football team is pretty good at running straight ahead. Since Friday’s downpours made Norton High’s Adam Field a quagmire, that was good thing for the 6-0 Hillers, who posted a 42-21 win over Lancers. “We have some good North-South runners,” said Hopkinon head coach Jim Girard. “We don’t have great speed side to side. “We needed to do that and go straight ahead. There really wasn’t much you could do here. “It was one of those old-fashion, grind it out, ground and pound type games." Hopkinton only attempted a handful of passes, but one was the first score of the game as quarterback Mike Decina found Barrett Hanlon for a 23-yard score. Hanlon had a big day kicking the ball in tough conditions with six extra-points. When …

The 2-2 Norton Lancer football team played 2-2 Medway High Thursday night in Medway.
The Medway High football team handed Norton a 35-6 loss Thursday at Joseph Hanlon Field in Medway. Norton had a tough slowing down the Mustangs' offensively. "We didn't play sound defense tonight against an excellent team, who runs the same things at you every year," said Norton head coach Ted Currie. "There were definitely no surprises in what they ran and we didn't defend it." Norton got its only score on the game on the last play. Zach Sicard turned in a highlight reel run, breaking tackles down the left side for 20-yard touchdown as time ran out in the game. After scoring three rushing touchdowns by Greg Amato in the first half, the Mustangs went to the air for a 28-0 lead. Quarterback Pat Sheehan hit Justin Dunston with 59-yard …
