This year expected to be bigger than the last.
Founders Day is coming back to Norton for its second year, and 2013 Norton Founders Day Annual Picnic & Fireworks Committee co chair Bill Lippincott says this year is going to be another blast. “It was about a year ago that I was here to announce the first-annual Founders Day and now we’re going to do it again,” he said. “Things are going very well and are in line.” Founders Day, started last year, is a celebration of all things Norton and will be held on June 22. It includes a picnic, fireworks, a petting zoo, local music and more. Norton Selectmen discuss the current plan for the 2013 Founders Day Celebration.
The Norton Board of Selectmen talked with William Lippincott on Thursday concerning the current stage of the 2013 Norton Founders Day Picnic. Lippincott said they will be meeting at the VFW on Feb 11 at 7 p.m. to discuss planning strategies. “There’s a core of us that are going to go forward,” he said. “If anyone in the community wants to be involved just come on down on Monday.” Lippincott said that the event will be similar to last year’s celebration in terms of format. He said there is one aspect of the event that will not be returning this year. “I will not be in the dunk tank again,” he said. Early Morning Fire in Stoughton Leaves 17 Homeless An early morning fire on May 1 at a multi-family home on Park Street in Stoughton displaced 17 people, including an infant, Stoughton Fire Chief Mark Dolloff said. While five families were displaced, there were no reports of injuries to civilians or to the crews that responded, according to SFD Captain Doug Campbell. The cause of the fire was electrical and it started in the ceiling between the 2nd and 3rd floors, according to the State Fire Marshal's office. Eight area towns assisted Stoughton in responding to this three-alarm fire. Area businesses and the Stoughton Schools have started collecting donations for the fire victims, who lost most, if not all of their possessions. The location…
