The Boston Rams, featuring many local players, will open their season tomorrow at Muscato Stadium in Easton
Submitted to Patch: By Mark Stokes If the founding of the New England Revolution back in the mid-1990's was the first step towards professional soccer in the region, then chapter two of the story surely begins this month in Easton, Mass, when the Real Boston Rams take the stage for what has become one of the most anticipated soccer ventures of recent years. While the Revs have won the hearts of New England fans for the past 17 years, the professional game has, for reasons unknown, remained out of reach for far too many local soccer fans. But the bridge between the professional game and those hoping to one day play MLS soccer, will finally come into view at Muscato Stadium, on May 11 as the Rams take their bow in the USL Premier Development…

The New England Patriots will wear black-ribbon logos on their helmets and hold a moment of silence before Sunday night's game against the San Francisco 49ers in Foxborough.
Foxborough will be center stage of the National Football League world for the second time in six days Sunday night when the New England Patriots host the San Francisco 49ers in primetime on NBC's Sunday Night Football. But even a game with so much significance on playoff positioning will simply be less important in the wake of Friday's tragedy in Newtown, Conn. The New England Patriots, along with the rest of the country, will have the 26 victims of Friday's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on their minds and in their hearts during Sunday's game at Gillette Stadium. In recognition of Friday's tragedy, the Patriots plan to honor the 20 children and six adults killed in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School by wearing black-…

By Dan Rafuse This past Wednesday, a pair of friends and I were offered free tickets to attend the New England Revolution versus Columbus Crew Major League Soccer match at Gillette Stadium. As a Boston sports fanatic, I consider myself very lucky for having attended numerous professional sporting events. Up until Wednesday, I had never attended a professional soccer game before, so I was not too sure what to expect. I was surprisingly pleased, yet oddly disappointed with the experience. For starters, the only type of soccer I am entirely familiar with is the EPL, or English Premiere League. The EPL has some of the best players and teams in the world. Typically, with the best teams come the best fan bases. England is home to some of the …

The New England Revolution soccer team selected eight new members to add to its “Rev Girl” squad Tuesday night during a heated audition at the Greatest Bar. Anne Marie Conde, a Norton native, beat out the competition by landing a final spot as a new 2012 Rev Girl. A slew of celebrity judges including The Voice’s James Massone from Wakefield, NESN Daily’s Dara McIntosh and BostonTweet’s Tom O’Keefe helped to narrow the field of 17 Rev Girl prospects down to the final eight, based on three audition rounds that tested their minds, team spirit and ability to excite a crowd. During the first round, emcee Dave Russo, a local comedian and DirtyWater TV personality, quizzed the 17 contestants on Revolution team trivia. Following the team trivia, …
