Based on the "Little Orphan Annie" comic strip by Harold Gray and the book "Annie," by Thomas Meehan, the story follows a red headed girl named, you guessed it, Annie. The 11-year-old orphan, played by Rachel Ferreira is desperate to be reunited with her parents when a wealthy industrialist named Oliver Warbucks (Bryce McCarthy) takes her in his home for two weeks during the holidays. While it takes him some time to warm up to the girl, she eventually wins him over and they attempt to find her parents together. Annie's caretaker Miss Hannigan, performed spot on by Jordana Wollenhaupt, has a different plan, however. Other students in the play are Emma Chisholm…

'Light Before Christmas' a Bright Success

Press release from New Testament.

On Dec. 6, the lights dimmed and the crowd buzzed in anticipation for New Testament Christian School’s elementary Christmas musical called “The Light before Christmas” created by Dave Clark and Jayme Thompson. The school presents an elementary musical annually that features the sixth grade class as the actors with students in grades one through five providing choral support. This year students also helped with lighting as well. The play began in Mr. Cutler’s science class as his students were getting ready for a Christmas party. Several students were frustrated with their classmate Beaker, played by David Hernandez, who was working instead of helping the group decorate. Two characters, Austin, played by Nicholas Shaw, and Todd, played by …

Musical tonight at 7 p.m.

Tonight students from New Testament Christian School will shed some light on the story of Christmas in a musical called, “The Light Before Christmas.” In this musical by Dave Clark and Jayme Thompson, Beaker and his fellow classmates enjoy the last day of school before Christmas vacation with a party in science class. As they decorate the classroom and trim the tree, a few lessons from their teacher help the kids begin to understand the full story of the birth of Jesus and why Christmas is celebrated. “Every year I look for Christmas programs that tell the Christmas story and I also look for ones that have upbeat music that kids like,” said musical director Susan Ferris. “We do a lot of choreography and dance moves. It’s important to me …

The Un-Common Theatre Company and Bay Colony Productions presented a preview Saturday evening with approximately 200 family members and friends in the audience. The lights dim, the theatre goes dark and you are in the magical world of A Christmas Carol. A rousing Christmas number is sung by the ensemble and toward the end of it enters Ebenezer Scrooge, played by Fred Armstrong. Armstrong gives Scrooge a …
