The Wheaton College men's basketball was dealt a 64-49 loss by Springfield College on Saturday afternoon in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action at Emerson Gymnasium on "Senior Day." Prior to the game, seniors Brian Johnson (Roxbury, Mass./Brimmer and May School), Scott Faucher (Lebanon, N.H./Kimball Union Academy), Phil Gensicki (North Haven, Conn./Notre Dame) and Mike Hall (Lynnfield, Mass./Saint John's Prep) were all honored for their contributions towards the men's basketball program. Four-year student administrative assistant Caitlin Hampton (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) was also honored for before tip-off for her assistance to the program. The Wheaton College women's track & field team competed in the Yale Invitational, hosted by Yale University, on Saturday afternoon at the Coxe Cage. Today's meet was an unscored friendly which featured such teams as Sacred Heart, Central Connecticut State, Williams and Brown University among others. Junior Ashante Little (Seabrook, N.H./Winnacunnet) earned Wheaton's only first place finish of the afternoon capturing top honors in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.87-seconds. Wheaton College junior guard Melissa McLaughlin (Spindale, N.C./R-S Central) scored a career-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field to lead the women's basketball team to a 53-39 victory over Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Tuesday night at Harrington Auditorium.
