$580M Powerball Jackpot Numbers: Did You Hit Any of the Numbers?

Massachusetts is one of 42 states that play Powerball. Did you have any of the winning numbers?

5-16-22-23-29-6.  If you had all six numbers (and you had the six in the all-important "power ball" spot), then you won all or a share of $579,900,000.  Then again, if you won all or part of $579,900,000, you aren't reading this right now. You're shopping for mansions in Marblehead, driving the Bugatti you bought first thing Thursday morning to get there. The above numbers were the winners in Wednesday night's Powerball drawing. It's one of the biggest lottery payouts in history, and as of 11:59 p.m. Wednesday night, there was no word on a winner. TELL US: What Would You Do if You Won the $500 Million Powerball Jackpot?

As no one has won Powerball for 16 consecutive tries, the estimated jackpot for Wednesday drawing is $500 million. Tell us in the comments what you would do if you won.

For the last two months, no one has been lucky to win the Powerball lottery. Lottery officials estimate Wednesday's jackpot at $500 million, and at that value, it would be the largest jackpot in Powerball history. Powerball is pulled Wednesdays and Fridays. The Powerball lottery is played in 42 states, including Massachusetts and all six New England states. According to Powerball, the odds of winning the jackpot is 1 in 175 million. The odds of getting all 5 numbers and not the Powerball, earning $1 million, is 1 in 5 million.

MUSINGS ON MOTHERHOOD

The Lure of Winning

Something for nothing…

What is it that draws us in to entering contests or playing the lottery? Is it the lure of something for nothing or millions for a few dollars? That must be the incentive because I see plenty of offers for contests on my food packages and in my magazine pages, while scratch tickets litter the sides of the road on my morning walks. Although I don’t play the lottery, (I feel as though I’m throwing my money away), I do enter the free contests that I find on my food packaging and in the coupon inserts. The majority of contests are now online entries, but years ago you had to fill out a form and mail in your entry (one per envelope). I’ve been entering contests since I was a teenager. Remember Casey Kasem’s Top 40 radio show? Well, I mailed in …
