Habitat Seeks Families

Only two families have applied thus far.

Old Colony Habitat For Humanity continues to take applications for the energy star rated home they hope to build on Hawthorne Road in April. The deadline is Feb. 28. “It’s actually been really slow,” said Habitat chairperson Sheila Oliver. They have only received two applications. Some people have called asking if they are giving the house away. “But that’s not what we do,” Oliver said. “It’s a hand up, not a handout.” The home will cost approximately $135,000 to build, are sold to the partner families at no profit, and are financed with affordable, low interest loans. Habitat For Humanity to Hold Application Program Tonight
