School Committee disagrees on homework policy.
The Norton School Committee has a problem with the district's homework policy. In fact, it has spent much time in the last month or so debating how much homework should be given, how missed assignments should be dealt with and whether homework should be metered out on Fridays. I'm not going to get into how many estimated minutes of homework should be allotted to each student, largely because I think it's a silly discussion. The school committee is reacting to the complaints of parents, which is an admirable thing. I actually think younger students and their parents could benefit from elementary and middle school teachers doing the same thing. This way, parents and the students know what to expect and can plan accordingly... or, in some cases, the parents can remind their kids when to work on assignments.
