Norton Country Club to Offer Beer on Wheels

Change in liquor license would control outside alcoholic beverages from being brought in.

The Norton Country Club on Oak Street has been a model citizen for many years, with its welcoming greens and clubhouse. But a few abutters had concerns Thursday, after owners had applied to selectmen for a change in the club’s liquor license.  Put succinctly, homeowners whose property is immediately adjacent to the playing course were a little worried that alcohol available on the vending cart might result in a few rowdy players whose golf etiquette already leaves a lot to be desired.  Owner Jeff Carroll of Northeast Golf Properties told selectmen he is trying to establish more control over the use of alcohol on the course, particularly when golfers bring in their own supplies. Norton Golf Striving For Consistency

After going 2-1 this week with one rainout, the Lancers face busy week ahead.

It was both a busy and interesting stretch of three days for the Norton High golf team this week. It began on Tuesday when the Lancers swept a Tri-Valley League tri-match against Millis and Ashland at the TPC Boston course in Norton. Norton finished with a season-low team score of 237, while the Clockers completed the day with a combined 270 and the Mohawks finished up at 335. The two wins improved the Lancers to 5-2 overall and in the TVL. Senior captain Zach Schuster, who is playing like a league MVP this fall, led the way for the locals with a medalist round of 1-over par 37 on Tuesday. Senior captain Max Cantin fired a 2-over par round of 38 as did junior Evan Ryan. The next day, Norton suffered a difficult 228-253 setback in Hopkinton…

Hopkinton Golf Defeats Norton At TPC Boston

Hillers earn third win of season with 10-stroke victory over Lancers on Thursday.

Senior captain Jace McCarron tied for medalist honors with a 1-under par round of 35 as the Hopkinton High golf team defeated Norton, 240-250, in a weather-delayed Tri-Valley League match on Thursday afternoon at TPC Boston in Norton. Lancer senior captain Zach Schuster tied McCarron for medalist honors with a 1-under par 35 on the front nine at TPC Boston. Both players were All-Tri-Valley League selections a year ago. The victory improved the Hillers to 3-2 overall and in the TVL, while Norton suffered its first loss of the season, dropping to 1-1 overall and in the league. Following an extended delay due to heavy rain and thunderstorms, the teams headed to the first tee at TPC Boston to get the match underway. The eight players for …
