Bashaw, Ryan talk about their summer with the Rox.
They never played together at Norton High School, but this summer AJ Bashaw and Sean Ryan are the only two players from Norton, who’re suiting up for the Brockton Rox in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. Bashaw, who has yet to register a win on the bump this season, has appeared in 10 games thus far and has struck out seven batters, while yielding 10 hits. His longest outing as a relief pitcher occurred on July 15 against Nashua, where he pitched 3 2/3 innings. Ryan, who currently leads the league with four triples, has been the spark plug for the Rox offense. He’s played in 32 games, and has recorded 45 hits, 19 RBIs, 18 hits and 14 stolen bases. Norton High head baseball and football coach Ted Currle will be an assistant coach for the Brockton Rox of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. One of his former players, Sean Ryan of Norton and Wheaton College, is an outfielder on the squad. “Ted is a tremendous addition to our coaching staff,” said Rox general manager Tom Healy. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our organization and we are absolutely thrilled to have him on board.” Currle is currently in his fourth season as the head coach of Norton High School’s football and baseball teams. Former Norton High standout and current Wheaton College player Sean Ryan will be playing for the Brockton Rox in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League this summer. The Rox were part of the professional independent Can-Am League, but suspended operations this year and will instead feature college players. A junior outfielder, Ryan and East Bridgewater's Greg Baggett, a senior catcher at Bentley University, were the first two players signed to the Brockton Rox roster. Ryan has been tearing the cover off the ball this spring for the Div. III Wheaton College Lyons, hitting at a .392 clip through the first 23 games of the 2012 season.
