Sturdy Memorial Holds Essay Contest

Winner will get cash prize.

In conjunction with National Volunteer Week, April 21 through April 27, Sturdy Memorial Hospital is holding an essay contest.  Rockland Trust is the official sponsor of this year’s contest and the entries will be judged by the Greater Attleboro Women of Today and the Women at Work Museum. The essay contest is open to area students in grades 6 through 12.  This year’s theme is “Volunteers – making a difference in the lives of others." Essays will be judged on originality, clarity of thought and writing skills. Essays need to be typed, doubled-spaced and not more than 500 words. All entries must be received by March 29.  Winners will receive cash prizes donated by Rockland Trust. Norton Youth Wins Tri-Town Chamber Essay Contest

Lily Holloway wins grand prize of $300 for back-to-school shopping and entry to an awards ceremony breakfast at the Deutsche Bank Championship.

When 11-year-old Lily Holloway saw the clock strike 4 p.m. Friday, she knew she had won the Back to School Buy Local Favorite Summer Memory Contest sponsored by Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce.  The contest asked youths from Mansfield, Foxborough and Norton to write about their favorite summer memories. Lily decided to share a story about spending time at her great grandmother's beach house in Humarock with her family. "Afterwards, we walk down to the Ice Cream Shoppe," Lily wrote. "We make it just in time to see the bright oranges, soft pinks, lavenders, and lemon yellows of the sunset. I’ll remember my family’s faces forever. Tri-Town Chamber Announces Back to School Buy Local Contest

Summer memories could pay off for Back to School supplies.

The Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce will reward kids for their memories in the first Back to School Buy Local Contest.   Between now and Aug. 15, children between the ages of 8 and 15 are encouraged to submit a 100 to 200 word essay on their favorite summer memory along with a photo or drawing. Three finalists will be chosen to have their entry posted on the Tri-Town Chamber blog where friends and family can vote for their favorite.   The winner will be announced Aug. 27 and awarded a back to school grand prize totalling over $300 including a shopping spree at Mansfield Crossing.
