The St. Louis Rams officially announced the signing of Norton's Nick Schwieger to a free agent contract. He was one of 23 free agents signed over the weeked. The Dartmouth College running back will faced a crowd field at his position for a final spot on the Rams. St. Louis took two running backs in the draft and then added Jacksonville State's Calvin Middleton and Schwieger. They also added fullback Todd Anderson out of Michigan State. At Dartmouth, Schwieger was the school's all-time rushing leader. He is also a former standout at Bishop Feehan.

Norton's Nick Schwieger, a former standout at Bishop Feehan, signed a free agent contract with the St. Louis Rams. After going undrafted after an outstanding career at Dartmouth College, Schwieger inked a contract shortly after the draft ended. At Dartmouth, Schwieger was one of the top running backs in the school's history, finishing his senior year with 1,310 yards and 10 touchdowns on 241 carries. He also caught 23 passes for 119 yards, earning third team Associated Press honors. The 5 foot, 10 inch, Schwieger is first in all-purposed yards at Dartmouth with 4,115. Dartmouth senior running back Nick Schwieger was named by the Associated Press as a member of its Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-America Third Team on Thursday afternoon. The Big Green’s all-time leading rusher is the first Dartmouth player to be chosen an All-American since return specialist Shawn Abuhoff last year by the Sports Network and Phil Steele, while tight end Casey Cramer was the most recent AP All-American for Dartmouth in 2002 when he was named to the second team. Boston Globe reports Norton resident the school's career rushing leader.
The Boston Globe reports that Norton resident Nick Schwieger set a new record for the second time in three years with 257 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries in Dartmouth College's 33-24 win over Cornell Saturday. He reclaimed the record after teammate Greg Patton passed his previous 242-yard mark by one yard. According to the article, Schwieger has 1,016 yards rushing in eight games, and is the first player in the 128 seasons of Dartmouth football to surpass 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons. He is the school’s career rushing leader (2,856) and owns three of the top six all-purpose yardage games.

Town resident gains 175 yards and scores two touchdowns in Dartmouth College win.
Town resident and senior captain Nick Schwieger got his season off to a terrific start, carrying the ball 20 times for 175 yards and two second-half touchdowns as the Dartmouth College football team opened the 2011 campaign with a 37-20 victory over Colgate in a non-league game last Saturday at Memorial Field in Hanover, N.H. With that performance, the standout tailback surpassed 2,000 yards rushing for his stellar career. He is just the second Big Green player to eclipse that mark. Schwieger, who averaged 8.8 yards per carry, helped Dartmouth gain a total of 258 yards on the ground as a team against the Raiders. It’s shaping up to be an exciting season for town resident Nick Schwieger and the Dartmouth College football team. In what looks to be a season’s worth of accolades began for the Big Green senior captain when he was recently named to Phil Steele’s 2011 Preseason FCS All-America Third Team. Schwieger, a standout tailback with the Big Green, was joined on both the publication’s All-American third team and the All-Ivy League first team by fellow senior captain and cornerback Shawn Abuhoff. Norton resident honored on Monday in New York.
Dartmouth College football standout and town resident Nick Schwieger has been named the co-winner of the Asa S. Bushnell Cup, given to the Ivy League Player of the Year. The award was presented on Monday at Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. Harvard senior running back Gino Gordon shared the honor with Schwieger. The former Bishop Feehan High standout is the sixth Big Green player to earn the honor since its inception 40 years ago and the first since quarterback Jay Fiedler in 1992. Former Bishop Feehan standout still in line for Ivy League Player of the Year.
It turned out to be a tremendous conclusion to the season for Dartmouth College football standout and Norton resident Nick Schwieger. And it has the potential to get even better. Last Saturday afternoon in Princeton, NJ, Schwieger helped the Big Green to their first winning season in 13 years, carrying 26 times for 105 yards and three touchdowns during a 31-0 blanking of Princeton in the Ivy League season finale for both teams. It was the sixth 100-yard performance of the year for the junior tailback. The three touchdowns was also a single-game career high for Schwieger, whose 14 touchdowns this fall tied the Dartmouth College school record for one season.
