Becoming My Own Person

Nicole Ellison writes her last journalism assignment as a Norton High School student.

Being a high school student can be stressful yet exciting all at the same time. This will be my last summer as a high school student because next year I will be going to college. I am so excited to finally be going off into the world and becoming my own person. However, it is very nerve-wracking and stressful. This year has been so hard because we are talking about SAT's and college applications. Even though it is hard, I think this year has been really fun and one of the best. I have met all sorts of new friends and the amount of work has let me test my abilities.  High school so far has completely flown by for me. Being a high school student has been a wonderful experience so far as I am sure being in college will too. Also, getting a …

Six seniors graduate from New Testament Christian School

The sun came out just in time for the New Testament Christian School Class of 2012 graduation Thursday night. Six seniors received their diplomas at Cole Memorial Chapel on the Wheaton College campus. New Testament students spent hundreds of hours doing community service this year in area shelters, churches and other areas of need. Some of their work included helping out in Guatamala orphanages and inner city mission work. Norton resident Michael Pundt and Attleboro resident Aaron Bonaguide were honored for such work.  Bonaguide in particular earned the Great Commission Award by clocking in over 300 hours of community service over the past four years by serving on short-term mission assignments and assisting with community activities while…

IMAGE GALLERY: Class of 2012 Graduates at Bishop Feehan

For the first time, a graduation takes places outdoors on the Attleboro campus.

The weather was cooperative on a beautiful Thursday evening for the first outdoor graduation on the Bishop Feehan campus in Attleboro. The 263 members of the Class of 2012 received their diplomas at the school's McGrath Stadium. School President Christopher Servant said the decision to move the ceremony outside was due to "increased enrollment coupled with our desire to accommodate more guests." He joked, "The pessimists among us will ask, 'What if it rains?' While the optimists will respond, 'It will make the event all the more memorable.'" In her Valedictorian address, Lindsey Claus—a Mansfield resident who will attend Harvard in the fall—spoke about the "incredible gift" of life. "My fellow classmates, as we go forward, let's use an …

VIDEO AND PHOTO GALLERY: Wheaton College Class of 2012 Graduation

Over 400 graduates received their diploma Saturday.

"Destiny doesn’t just happen; instead, it is created by a lifetime of choices, and it is yours to design," said Janet L. Robinson, retired CEO of the New York Times Company to the Class of 2012 during Wheaton College’s 177th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 19. “It is important to remember that life is not just about chance, it is about choice. Chance is what the world brings to you. But choice is what you bring to the world,” the keynote speaker told the 404 graduating seniors. “Do not leave your journey to chance. Choose to do whatever it is that you love, and do it enthusiastically, relentlessly and unapologetically.” In doing so, you can make a difference in the world, said Robinson, citing the life and work of New York Times …
