Project part of ongoing Norton Brownie Quest.
Norton Girl Scouts troop #75395 collected donations for Norton Animal Shelter as part of an ongoing project earlier this month. The girls went through their neighborhood on the K Streets and placed flyers along with trash bags by people's homes May 2. Donations of bleach, pet food, cat litter, towels and more were collected. “The residents are super friendly and as you could see, very generous,” said Krisan Pope, troop co-leader. While some neighbors dropped things at Pope’s house, the rest was collected May 11 and a dozen or so bags of goodies were delivered to Norton Animal Shelter May 16. After they dropped off the supplies, the Girl Scouts were able to play with the cats at the shelter. The community service project was part of a year-…

On April 17th, our Brownie troop went to visit the Norton Fire Department and talk to Firefighter Andy. When we got there, most of the firefighters had to leave because there was a car accident. We got to see the boats that they use to rescue people in the water such as when they are in a kayak. We also got to see the inside of fire trucks and watch the ladder go up on the ladder truck. We even got to see Firefighter Andy slide down the pole. But most importantly we learned what to do when there is a fire and how to prepare for a fire. To prevent a fire: Also, make sure that you: If you ever have a fire: We want to thank Firefighter Andy Gomes for showing us around the fire station. Our troop had a great time visiting and learning …

Young and old get together to make crafts, sing songs.
Brownie Troop 80443 visited Daggett-Crandall-Newcomb Home residents Saturday, making them balloon snowmen and singing Christmas carols. Ciel Riveras taught the children how to make the balloon creations. "The troop came here last year too, and they loved it," said marketing manager Allison Chancey. Approximately 12 residents attended, along with about 11 Brownies.

A peanut butter lover's dream.
My sister Jennifer and I love brownies, and one day we combined our brownie addiction with our love for Reese's peanut butter cups. The result is this very sweet chocolate and peanut butter treat. Best enjoyed with a cold glass of milk. SUPPLIES: INGREDIENTS: DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 350°F and spray pan with nonstick spray, such as Pam. Melt chocolate and butter in pot over a low flame. Stir with wooden spoon or spatula often to keep from burning! When all melted, set aside to cool. Using the whisk, add the vanilla and sugar to the beaten eggs until well blended. Stir in the cooled chocolate mixture. Stir in the flour and salt. Chop and add peanut butter cups along with any other miscellaneous ingredients (walnuts, etc.). Stir together…

These cranberry squares were one of the cookies my mother would make every year before we did our annual cookie swap around the neighborhood. They are a nice change from the traditional cookies often seen around the holidays, but still not too risky to put off picky eaters. Whenever these were baked they would last all but five minutes on our counter. Ingredients: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 14x9" pan and set aside. In medium-large sauce pan, slowly melt both sticks of butter. Once melted, turn heat to lowest setting and add sugar, eggs and flour, mixing as you add each one. Remove from heat and mix until well combined. Add cranberries and chopped walnuts and stir. Pour into pan and bake for 45-50 minutes or until tops are …
