The Norton High football team defeated Bellingham, 14-13, Thanksgiving Day in Bellingham.
It will definitely be a Thanksgiving Day game both Norton and Bellingham High football teams will remember for years to come. Not only was Bellingham standout Ricky Santos honored at halftime with his number being retired, but the Hawks took to playing like their assistant coach. Trailing 14-0 to Norton early in the fourth quarter, Bellingham made a game of this 11th annual Thanksgiving Day extravaganza, but failed on the 2-point conversion that would have given them the win. Jenkins ends Lancer football career with two touchdowns.
Nick Jenkins’ name was followed by a question mark before the Norton High football team's Thanksgiving Day game against Bellingham. First, there was the question of whether the senior running back-linebacker would even play in the 16th meeting of the two schools. And, there was question if he could play, how much would he play? “I didn't practice much because of my hip,” said Jenkins. “I had an injury last week, but I want to go this week, because it was my last game. Coach (Ted Currle) only played me one-way most of the time, but when I got in on offense, I had to do what I had to do to score.” He did reach the end zone twice, once receiving and once rushing as the Lancers defeated Bellingham, 27-12, in Norton to finish the season at 5-6 …

The Norton High football team will be looking for its fifth win of the season with a victory over Bellingham.
The Norton High football team will be looking to end their season with a win over Bellingham in their 16th Thanksgiving Day game since the rivalry was restarted when the Lancers joined the Tri-Valley League. The sun is shining bright at Adams Field despite the cold temperatures. The Lancers are going into the game with a 4-6 record, while the Blackhawks are 2-7. The game is being broadcast live on Norton Cable on Channel 15.
