The date of February 14, 2012 will be a historic date for most Norton basketball players and fans. This was the day that the Norton Lancer varsity basketball team won its first ever outright TVL championship. This has never been done by any Norton basketball team ever due to the rigid schedule of the Tri Valley League. Twice a year Norton must play perennial power houses such as: Hopkinton, Medfield, and Medway. Not often is Norton mentioned to be in the top spot of the TVL but this year was different. With two games left, the Norton Lancers were to completely determine their fate. This game was special because not only was it the game to clinch the first TVL title, but it was senior night. All the hard work would be put in perspective …

The Lancers will look to extend their win streak over the Blackhawks to 4 and end the season with a winning record in league play.
It may not have the history or legacy of some of the other Thanksgiving games, but that doesn’t mean that the game will be played with any less intensity. On Thanksgiving morning, the Norton Lancers will once again host the Bellingham Blackhawks in their annual Thanksgiving game. The Lancers will be looking for their fourth win in a row over the Blackhawks while Bellingham will be looking to break the losing streak and get their first win over the Lancers since 2007. It's been a season of ups and downs for the 4-6 (2-2) Lancers. After winning their first two games against Falmouth and Austin Prep, the Lancers went on a five game losing streak before winning two out of their last three. A win against the Blackhawks would put the Lancers …

Norton High's freshman and junior varsity football teams wrapped up their seasons this week with wins over Bellingham. Both Lancer teams won six of nine games. The freshman snatched a 32-26 victory from the jaws of defeat with a touchdown pass on the final play of the game to cap off the most exciting game of the season, which was marked by five lead changes. The Lancers scored first and held a 16-12 margin at halftime. But Bellingham went ahead with the first touchdown of the second half to take a 20-16 lead. Then with less than 3 minutes to play, Norton scored what might have been the winning touchdown. Still, Bellingham wasn't done and responded with a touchdown of their own to go up by two points with only 58 seconds left to go. Here…

Lancers will look to clinch postseason berth on Friday after Thursday’s game is rained out.
The Norton High baseball team will have to wait one more day for its opportunity to clinch a postseason berth. The Lancers’ Tri-Valley League game on Thursday at the David Mollica Baseball Complex against Medfield was postponed because of rain and thunder. The Warriors made the trip down to Norton from Medfield, but the game was called after an extended period of rain as well as some thunder and lightning would not allow the contest to begin. The two teams will make-up the game on Saturday when the Lancers travel up to Medfield for a league contest at 10 a.m. In return, the regularly-scheduled game between the two teams that was to be held in Medfield next Wednesday afternoon will now be held at the Mollica Complex that same day at 3:45 p.…

Lancers want to respond to Wednesday’s tough loss to Holliston.
A good measure of a successful program is how it responds to adversity. The Norton High wrestling team will look to prove that theory in a few hours. Coming off a difficult and hard-fought 43-22 setback to Holliston in a key Tri-Valley League meet on Wednesday night at the Lawrence Larocque Gymnasium, the Lancers will look to bounce back on Saturday during a quad meet in Sharon. The Panthers put an end to several Norton streaks on Wednesday night. They ended the Lancers’ 16-meet home winning streak as well as their streak of 13 consecutive wins in TVL dual-meet competition. And with victories in its final two meets against Bellingham and Hopkinton, Holliston will capture the outright TVL regular-season crown, ending Norton’s three-year …

Lancers' running attack and defense spells difference.
The Norton High football team used an effective running attack and an opportunistic defense to overcome an early deficit and defeat Bellingham 35-14 on Thursday in a Tri-Valley League game at the George T. Anderson Field in Bellingham. It was the third straight victory for the Lancers on Thanksgiving Day against the Blackhawks. The win improved Norton to 8-3 on the season and allowed the Lancers to complete the year in sole possession of third place in the Tri-Valley League. Bellingham completed its year at 3-8. On Thursday, the Lancers gained 288 yards as a team on the ground, while also forcing four Bellingham turnovers and registering three sacks on defense. “It was a good team effort and a good team win,” said Norton head coach Ted …

Lancers win, 16-6, holiday warm-up.
The Norton High junior varsity football team completed its season in terrific fashion, registering a dominant 16-6 win over Bellingham in a Tri-Valley League contest last Friday night at Adams Field. The Lancers completed the 2010 campaign with a 4-5 record. And Norton could have had two more victories, holding 14-0 and 16-0 half-time leads in two other games this fall, only to drop tough decisions during the second half of those contests. Last Friday night, junior running back Stefen Winfield carried the ball 11 times for 53 yards and a touchdown. Freshman running back Zack Sicard had nine touches for 89 yards. He had eight carries for 66 yards and a touchdown on the ground and caught one pass for 23 yards. Sicard also had a two-point …
