Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), ranked eighth overall in the latest D3hoops.com national poll, opened up a 26-21 halftime lead with a 32-point second half to defeat the Wheaton College men's basketball team, 58-41, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon at Emerson Gymnasium. The Wheaton College men's basketball team was dealt an 84-47 loss by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon in Emerson Gymnasium. Sophomore forward Mike O'Loughlin (Milford, N.H./Milford) scored a team-high nine points, dished out three assists, had three steals and picked up two rebounds for the Lyons. Free clinic paid tribute to Sandy Hook Elementary School victims.

The women's basketball team hosted a free clinic for Norton fifth and sixth graders Wednesday at Emerson Gymnasium. The Lyons paid tribute to everyone who has been affected by the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Dec. 14 by hosting the free clinic for members of the Norton community. At the end of the clinic, players from the women's basketball team and the Norton students signed a card for the Newtown community. The women's basketball team also plans on attending various elementary schools throughout the Massachusetts region during the season to honor and support the Newtown community by offering free basketball clinics. The Wheaton College women's basketball team has earned a reputation for being as active in the community as they are on the court, engaging in service projects that range from food drives to coaching and mentoring the Heller's Angels Special Olympics basketball team. The latter effort has put them in the running for an award from the NCAA. Most recently, the Wheaton women worked this semester with the eighth grade girls' basketball team from Norton Middle School, helping them grow athletically and personally. The Lyons began their collaboration with the middle school team by hosting weekly basketball clinics throughout September. Beyond sharpening the girls' skills on the court, the clinics were also designed as a sisterly mentoring …
