Former Babysitter Convicted, Sentenced

Crystal Goodis was found guilty of charges that included indecent assault and battery on a child.

The babysitter accused of indecently touching a child and punching another in their Norton home was found guilty by a jury in Attleboro District Court yesterday, according to 7 News WHDH. Crystal Goodis had been accused of indecently touching a 4 1/2-year-old and punching her 3-year-old brother, and the children testified that she also threatened to hit them if they told their mother. Goodis received a two-and-a-half year sentence. She'll serve eight months in a cell, followed by 10 years of probation. The judge also ordered her to register as a sex offender.

Trial of Alleged Abusive Babysitter Under Way

Crystal Goodis has been accused of indecently touching a 4 1/2-year-old and punching a 3-year-old.

The trial of a 33-year-old North Attleboro woman charged with assault and battery stemming from a babysitting job in Norton has begun, Boston.com is reporting. Crystal Goodis, of North Attleborough, allegedly indecently touched the 4 1/2-year-old girl and punched her 3-year-old brother at their home in Norton more than three years ago. Thie children are now 8 and 6, and they testified that Goodis would scare them, hit them and threaten them if they told their mother. Goodis' attorney argued that the witness tesitmony is not credible.

Norton Police Arrest Two for Allegedly Stealing Scrap Metal

Two Norton residents will be appearing in Attleboro District Court Monday for allegedly stealing stolen scrap metal.

  (From the Norton Police Department) Two Norton residents will be in Attleboro District Court Monday after being arrested Saturday for allegedly having stolen scrap metal in their Dodge pick-up. Saturday at 1:30 p.m., Norton Police Sgt. Jacob Dennett stopped a Dodge pick-up on Freeman Street after he suspected the vehicle to contain stolen scrap metal.  After an investigation, Sgt. Dennett confirmed with representatives from CPS Technologies, 111 South Worcester St., Norton, that the scrap metal was stolen from that property.   The operator, Timothy Sanson, age 22, of 18 Woodland St., Norton, and the passenger, Rebecca Andrews, 22, of the same address, were both placed under arrest by the Norton police.   Sanson is being charged with the …

Norton Police Charge Man With Threatening a Mail Carrier

The Norton Police are charging James Hines of 120 West Main St. in Norton with assault by means of a dangerous weapon.

  (From the Norton Police Department) The Norton Police are charging James Hines, 79, of 120 West Main St. in Norton with assault by means of a dangerous weapon for allegedly threatening a mail carrier Tuesday at 12:20 p.m. Hines will be appearing in Attleboro District Court at later date. According the Norton Police, Hines said he meant it as "a joke." In their report, the Norton Police stated the female mail carrier said Hines allegedly opened up his screen door and pointed the pistol in her direction. According to the police, the mail carrier said she was unsure what type of pistol it was and was able to flee the area and report it to other residents who called the police.
