Norton Police Arrest Hit and Run Motorist

The following information was supplied by Norton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

At 5:30 p.m. Monday, Norton Police responded to a report of a hit and run motor vehicle crash that occurred at 25 W. Main St.  A witness informed the police dispatcher that a vehicle with no headlights almost struck her vehicle, then rear ended another vehicle before it fled the scene. The witness was able to give a description and direction of travel of the suspect vehicle, and followed the vehicle until police arrived.  Norton Patrolman Kevin Schleicher Jr. stopped the suspect vehicle, operated by Jean Bernier, 71, of Mansfield Avenue, Norton, on Reservoir Street in the area of Arrow Road. Norton Suspect Arrested for Shoplifting

The Rhode Island State Police announced the arrest Thursday morning.

Three Massachusetts people, including one from Norton, face shoplifting charges following their arrest by Rhode Island State Police on Wednesday afternoon. Col. Steven O'Donnell announced that Stephen Benson, 28, of 69 E. Main St., Norton; Laurabeth Degirolamo, 31, of 152 Broadway, Taunton; and Jeffrey Hesketh, 37, of 11 Eastern Ave., Hyde Park, each face one misdemeanor count of larceny. In a statement released Thursday morning, O'Donnell said that Smithfield Police issued a report of shoplifting from the Kohl's department store at Smithfield Crossing at about 1 p.m. Wednesday. State troopers saw a car matching the description provided by the local officers, and followed it on I-295 north to Route 99 before stopping the car and arresting …

Norton Teen Hits Police Vehicle

Early Saturday morning, a driver allegedly drove through a stop sign, hitting a police vehicle. At approximately 2:04 a,m., Norton patrolman Nicholas Crugnale was travelling westbound on W. Main Street in a marked police vehicle when a Toyota Camry allegedly exited Oak Street without stopping at the stop sign, and struck the front end of the police vehicle. The Camry, operated by Patrick Traverse, 19, of 3 Brookwood lane, Norton, struck the vehicle and continued through the travel lane, striking a tree in front of 232 W. Main St. before coming to rest. Norton Police Arrest Man for Truck Theft

David Fondacaro, 21, of S. Worcester St., was placed under arrest and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, larceny over $250 and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license.

Earlier today, a truck was stolen from Olde Thyme Shoppe and resulted in the arrest of a Norton man. At 8 a.m., a red Dodge pick-up truck was reported stolen from the gift shop located at 370 Old Colony Road. At approximately 1:13 p.m., Patrolman Jesse Winters, while working a traffic detail for a construction company in the area of 38 N. Worcester St., saw a pick-up truck matching the description of the one reported stolen. Winters stopped the vehicle at his location and spoke with the operator. After a brief investigation, Winters confirmed that the truck was the same truck reported stolen that morning.  Patrolman David Ruskey and Detective James Franco responded to the scene to assist Winters.   The operator, David Fondacaro, 21, of S. …

Man Draws Knife on Gas Company Employees

Adam Pedranti charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (knife) and one count of disorderly conduct.

At approximately 10:10 a.m. today, Norton Police responded to 410 S. Worcester Street for a report of a male who threatened two Columbia Gas employees with a knife.  Officers were able to locate and speak with the suspect, Adam Pedranti, 37, of 410 S. Worcester Street. Officers placed Pedranti under arrest at the scene.  Officers discovered that Pedranti had threatened the workers with a knife because he thought they were going to shut off the gas to the residence. After threatening the workers, he went back into his residence. He was inside the residence when police arrived. A witness said officers drew their weapons on the suspect, but Norton Police Leiutenant Todd Jackson said he could not confirm this, adding the suspect was not …

Policeman Assaulted by Homeowners at Local Fire

Early Saturday morning, two Norton residents were arrested for hitting a police officer as their home was on fire. Norton Police and Fire Departments responded to 22 King Philip Road at 3 a.m. Saturday for a report of a house fire. The Norton Dispatcher was told that the residence was fully engulfed and all residents were out of the house. While the fire department was attempting to extinguish the fire, they requested police assistance with the resident, Richard M. Dunn, age 55 who was reportedly interfering with firefighter operations and was requested to leave the property.  Dunn was repeatedly requested to move away from the burning home, but refused. Teens Allegedly Held at Knifepoint at Stoughton's Skate Park Stoughton Police responded to the Stoughton skate park, located behind the stands of the Stoughton High football field and across from the O'Donnell Middle School, at 5:04 p.m. on April 13 for a report of stolen bikes. Police found that two teen victims were allegedly threatened at knifepoint for the two bikes by the two 17-year-old perpetrators, according to the SPD Facebook page.  Both perpetrators were arrested. Rockland Man Arrested for Breaking and Entering

At 1:30 a.m. today, a Rockland man was arrested for breaking into a Norton resident's shed on Agorista Lane. Norton Police received a call from the resident stating that someone was breaking into a shed in his back yard. The caller stated he observed two individuals, wearing black hooded sweatshirts and carrying flashlights, entering his shed and carrying items to a vehicle parked on the street.  Patrolman Patrick Mahoney arrived on scene and observed one subject matching that description standing at the rear of a vehicle parked on Agorista Lane. After a brief encounter, the subject, Matthew Shea, 26, of Hingham Street, Rockland, was placed under arrest.  Stolen items identified by the resident were recovered from the vehicle. Police were …

Attleboro Duo Tries to Remove Piping, Wiring from Campbell House

On Friday, Norton police arrested two subjects at the Campbell House who were attempting to remove piping and wires from the historic site. At 12:38 p.m. March 9, Detective Jeffrey Zaccardi observed a suspicious looking male and female on the property of 217 West Main St., known as the Campbell house in front of the Norton Middle School. Patrolman Scott Sweeting and Patrolman David Ruskey responded to assist Zaccardi. Officers noticed a door to the house to be open and searched the vacant building. Officers encountered the pair in the building and placed them under arrest. Officers discovered that the two were attempting to remove copper piping and electrical wires from the building.
