New Testament Christian School is now accepting applications for the 2013-2014 school year for students entering pre-kindergarten (age 3), kindergarten, elementary and high school. New Testament Christian School offers Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs with after care available. Families with children who turn 3 before Oct. 1 will be able to apply for a limited number of spaces in half- or full-day sections on two days of the week beginning this coming September. Options are also available for 4 year-olds, including half- or full-day sessions three days a week or full-days five days of the week. Applications for the 2013-2014 Project Early Preschool Program will be available in the L. G. Nourse Elementary School office beginning Jan. 7. The Project Early Program is the Norton Public School two year preschool program for typically developing children 3 and 4 years old. All applications must be returned by Monday, Jan. 28. Screening dates will then be established for the parents and children to visit the school. After the screening dates, a lottery is conducted and all children will be notified by the beginning of April of the lottery results. The program runs three days a week, 8:30 to 11 a.m. and noon to 2:30 p.m. A monthly tuition fee will be charged and transportation is not provided. For more information call 508-285-0110.

The board of Norton Community Television announced its second community grant cycle, which will close Dec 31, 2012. The community grant comes from an annual 10 percent philanthrophic initiative to provide funding to community organizations and local non-profit groups. Past grant recipients included the Norton Public Schools, with a $62,000 grant which funded the construction of a new press box at the renovated NPS athletic complex. Norton Public Library received a $15,000 grant, which funded media upgrades in the community room and printing workstations.
